We're building a powerful tech platform to help researchers scale qualitative research using video, AI, and mobile tools. Think: Notion meets Descript for user research.

This product lives inside Propellerfish, a dynamic, 16 year old, innovation consultancy based in London. While we're not a traditional startup, we operate like one: lean, fast, and obsessed with building great tools that solve real problems. You’ll join a tight-knit team that’s shipped real product and worked with global clients — now we’re scaling what we’ve built into something bigger.

We're looking for a founding-level engineer to bring structure, speed, and polish to the product. You'll work alongside an existing engineer (who built the MVP), but take the lead in improving architecture, quality, and velocity — and potentially rebuild our mobile app from scratch.

• Frontend: Angular, TypeScript
• Backend: Node.js, Express, MongoDB
• Mobile: React Native (open to rewrite)
• Infra: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes
• AI: Whisper, RAG pipelines, OpenAI

• CI/CD, unit/integration testing

   

✅ Your Role

• Ship clean, reliable features quickly
• Refactor messy parts of the stack, improve tests, review flow, deployments
• Lead or rebuild our mobile app
• Work directly with the founder + small team to shape product direction
• Help raise engineering standards (code reviews, documentation, testing)

🙀 We’re Looking For

• 5+ years experience as a full-stack engineer or early-stage builder
• Strong with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and modern web stacks
• Hands-on experience with mobile dev (React Native, Flutter, or native)
• Experience with CI/CD, code reviews, infrastructure best practices
• Based in UK or EU time zones (for daily overlap)
