Who You Are:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Support Engineer Scan Data with expertise in Node.js and intermediate SQL to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our scan data processes, submitting files, correcting errors, and ensuring the smooth running of our systems. Proficiency in Python is a plus.

Responsibilities + Activities:

- Oversee and manage week-over-week and day-over-day scan data processes to ensure the timely submission and processing of data files.
- Monitor system performance and respond to issues promptly to maintain smooth operations.
- Other operational tasks as assigned by management.
File Management:
- Submit and manage scan data files, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Identify, diagnose, and correct errors in file submissions and data processing.
System Maintenance:
- Perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability and performance of scan data systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Node.js applications and SQL databases used in scan data processing.
Development and Scripting:
- Develop and maintain scripts and tools using Node.js to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency for scan data processes.
- Utilize intermediate SQL skills to manage and query databases effectively, ensuring accurate scan data handling.
- Python knowledge is a plus for additional scripting and automation tasks.
Documentation:
- Document all operational procedures, error corrections, and maintenance activities meticulously.
- Maintain detailed records of system configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps specific to scan data operations.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other technical staff, third parties, support teams, and clients to address technical issues and requirements related to scan data.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates and gather feedback on scan data processes.
 

Experience & Skills You’ll Need:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a Support Engineer or in a similar operational role, with a focus on scan data solutions or similar systems.
- Experience with Node.js development and intermediate SQL.
- Proficiency in Node.js for developing and maintaining applications and scripts for scan data processes.
- Intermediate SQL skills for querying and updating data, specifically for scan data.
- Familiarity with SFTP, POS systems, and data processing workflows.
- Basic understanding of Python is a plus.
- Excellent documentation skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to create clear and concise technical documents, user manuals, and procedural guides specific to scan data operations.
- Familiarity with scan data processes with consumer packaged goods. 
- Proficiency in managing and utilizing UPC codes and maintaining comprehensive product catalogs.

Will be a plus:

Certifications in relevant technical fields (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, AWS Certified Developer).

What You’ll Do: 

As a key member of the Program Management team at PAR Retail, you will play a central role in implementing high-impact customer campaigns that drive measurable outcomes. You’ll work closely with Technical Program Managers to stay ahead of evolving industry trends, proactively shaping offer structures that align with both customer needs and manufacturer guidelines.  

Success in this role hinges on an exceptional attention to detail while you're configuring complex campaigns and ensuring flawless execution across multiple accounts. Precision matters at every step, and your ability to consistently deliver accurate, high-quality work will directly influence both customer satisfaction and business results. Responsibilities + Activities:  

• Understand PAR Retail's loyalty engine and work with Technical Program Management team to build consumer facing campaigns  
• Act as a subject matter expert on tobacco manufacturer program offerings and enable customers to collect maximum reimbursement dollars 
• Analyze campaign requirements from customers and create optimally designed offers  
• Implement tobacco campaigns across a variety of customer accounts, tailoring configurations to meet each program’s unique requirements and nuances 
• Extend campaign building knowledge to broader program initiatives with potential to grow into supporting other campaign configurations  
• Support offer testing both internally and externally 
• Anticipate challenges with configuration structures ahead of time to ensure smooth consumer experiences  
• Collaborate with product team to understand new requirements for offer structures in an ever-evolving industry

Requirements:  
- Operational knowledge of modern operating systems and networking; 

- Experience with common cloud services: AWS, GCP, and Azure; 

- Network Security and expertise in network pentesting; 

- Security testing of web applications, web services, mobile apps (hybrid and native), and IT infrastructure; 

- Understanding security certifications (PCI DSS / SOC2); 

- Ability to apply modern Application Security methodologies and frameworks; 

- Ability to use at least one modern programming language;

Technology Stack:

Requirements:

- Practical experience building systems in Ruby on Rails

- At least 6 years industry experience or equivalent

- Experience building and maintaining backend APIs, including design, implementation, evolution, and maintenance

- Familiarity with TypeScript, or similar modern strongly-typed language

- Proficiency using a variety of database technologies, both relational and non-relational

- Strong understanding and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated tests

- An ability to work in service-based architectures as well as well-factored Rails monolith applications

- Highly independent and able to effectively self-organize and prioritize work

- The ability to write clean code, and the discipline to write effective automated tests to deliver high-quality system improvements

- An ability to effectively break down larger bodies of work for delivery as a series of small, self-contained changes to the system

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate closely with other Engineers, design and implement new functionality based on product objectives and requirements.

- Work with the broader product engineering team to plan and coordinate feature and functionality improvements, as well as resolve bugs and execute technical enhancements, that cross-cut large parts of our platform.

- Work to continually learn, improve technology skills, expand knowledge of the our platform technologies, and gain increasing versatility across the breadth of our platform systems.

- Expand APIs and business logic, and as needed write or revise customer-facing API documentation.

- Work with our infrastructure team to enable and enhance highly-available, performant, and well-instrumented backend applications and services that run in our customer environments at substantial scale.

Position Summary: 

The Member Support Representative serves as the frontline support contact for members participating in loyalty programs powered by our platform. This role requires confident communication, empathetic problem-solving, and the ability to assist members via phone, email, and chat. You'll help resolve issues related to app functionality, loyalty program questions, account verification, and rewards redemptions, including processing balance adjustments when appropriate. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Confidently communicate with members across channels (phone, email, chat), providing timely and professional responses. 
• Troubleshoot and resolve questions related to loyalty accounts, mobile app access, account linking, and program participation. 
• Process loyalty balance adjustments within established guidelines, ensuring member satisfaction while balancing business needs. 
• Educate members on program benefits, app features, and how to get the most out of their loyalty experience. 
• Follow internal workflows to escalate complex issues to retailer support or platform teams as needed. 
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all member interactions in the ticketing system. 
• Uphold service-level agreements for first response time and resolution, adapting tone and messaging to fit the situation. 

• Support high-volume periods and marketing campaigns with poise and efficiency. 

   

Requirements: 

• Prior experience in a customer-facing role (call center, email, or chat support preferred). 
• Proficiency in spoken and written English is required to ensure clear and effective communication with members. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to explain technical and program-related concepts clearly to a non-tech-savvy audience. 
• Comfortable handling difficult conversations and turning negative experiences into positive outcomes. 
• High attention to detail and a knack for identifying patterns in support issues. 
• Familiarity with CRM systems (FreshDesk, Zendesk, Salesforce, etc.), mobile apps, loyalty programs, or digital customer experiences is a plus.

 Schedule: 

• Minimum of 32 hours per week (Monday-Sunday), with scheduling based on business needs.
