🔹About the role

As a Data Streaming Engineer in the customer team, you will leverage millions of daily connections with readers and viewers across the online platforms as a competitive advantage to deliver reliable, scalable streaming solutions. You will collaborate closely with analysts, data scientists and developers across all departments throughout the entire customer organisation. You will design and build cloud-based data pipelines, both batch and streaming, and its underlying infrastructure. In short: you live up to our principle You Build It, You Run It.

You will be working closely with a tech stack that includes Scala, Kafka, Kubernetes, Kafka Streams, and Snowflake.

🔹Responsibilities

• Deliver reliable, scalable streaming solutions
• Collaborate closely with analysts, data scientists and developers across all departments throughout the entire organisation
• Design and build cloud-based data pipelines, both batch and streaming, and its underlying infrastructure
• You Build It, You Run It.
• Building a robust real-time customer profile by aggregating their online behaviour and allowing the usage of this profile to recommend other articles on our online platforms.
• Co-develop and cooperate on streaming architectures from inception and design, through deployment, operation and refinement to meet the needs of millions of real-time interactions.
• Closely collaborate with business stakeholders, data scientists and analysts in our daily work, data engineering guild and communities of practice.

• You are a protagonist in harmonising our data landscape across countries, over departments and through acquisitions

   

🔹Requirements

• Experience implementing highly available and scalable big data solutions
• In-depth knowledge of at least one cloud provider, preferably AWS
• Proficiency in languages such as Scala, Python, or shell scripting, specifically in the context of streaming data workflows
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines
• Full understanding of modern software engineering best practices
• Experience with Domain-driven design
• DevOps mindset
• You see the value in a team and enjoy working together with others, also with techniques like pair programming

• You either have an AWS certification or are willing to achieve AWS certification within 6 months (minimum: AWS Certified Associate)

— Use your expertise in Swift and SwiftUI to improve the user experience and deliver flawlessly working apps;
— Collaborate with other technical disciplines and coordinate with colleagues on backend integration;

🔹About the project

 Backbase is a Dutch banking software and financial technology company that provides a banking infrastructure software platform that it calls engagement banking. The system is used by financial institutions globally, from large banks to credit unions and community banks.

🔹Responsibilities

You will work either with customers directly or with our partners, supporting them in implementing mobile solutions. Not one implementation is the same as another. Your tailor-made code seamlessly integrates our products with customers’ systems. You build apps mainly using native technology, but also work on hybrid mobile apps.

🔹Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining complex Android applications in production environments. 
• Experience in the banking or financial domain is a strong plus. 
• Skilled at translating high-level business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions. 
• Strong engineering mindset and follow modern Agile practices throughout the entire software development lifecycle. 
• Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) are part of your core workflow, ideally using tools like Bitrise or GitHub Actions. 
• Mobile development expert who’s always ready to share best practices and lead by example — not just follow them. 
• Strong technical expertise in Android architecture patterns such as MVI or MVVM. 
• Experience with Jetpack Compose (at least on pet projects) and understanding of its role in modern Android UI development. 
• Deep knowledge of Kotlin, especially Coroutines and Flows, and how to use them effectively in real-world applications. 
• Solid grasp of Dependency Injection, with hands-on experience using frameworks like Koin (or similar). 
• Strong understanding of Android security best practices, including SSL Pinning, secure data storage, encryption, etc.
