The Role

As a Front-End Engineer at HelloBiome, you will be at the forefront of developing engaging, performant, and scalable user experiences for our AI-driven platforms. You will take ownership of building multi-client and white-label front-end solutions using React and Next.js, ensuring our platforms are highly customizable, intuitive, and accessible across a wide range of users and use cases.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with design, product, and back-end teams to translate complex ideas and research outcomes into elegant and responsive UI components. Your expertise will directly shape how users interact with our microbiome-based solutions, driving impact through clean, modern, and thoughtful user experiences.

We are looking for a front-end specialist with a strong sense of product thinking and a passion for scalable, user-focused design systems. This role includes a competitive cash salary and equity package, with compensation based on the team member’s location, in line with HelloBiome’s commitment to fair and equitable remuneration.
 

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in front-end engineering, building production-grade web applications using React, Next.js, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Deep understanding of front-end architecture, performance optimization, and component-based design principles.
• Experience creating scalable white-label and multi-tenant applications, including theme customization, brand overrides, and configuration-driven UIs.
• Strong UX and UI sensibilities with the ability to translate high-level product ideas into beautiful, user-centric interfaces.
• Proficient in modern styling approaches (e.g., CSS-in-JS, Tailwind, SCSS) and design systems.
• Experience with front-end state management tools such as Redux, Zustand, or Recoil.
• Familiarity with accessibility (a11y) standards and responsive design principles.
• Experience working in agile environments and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., designers, back-end engineers, and researchers).
• Familiarity with headless CMSs, analytics tools, and integration of third-party APIs is a plus.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress is a plus.
   

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain responsive, accessible, and high-performance front-end applications using React and Next.js.
• Develop multi-client and white-label architecture, enabling seamless rebranding and customization of platform UI for various customers.
• Work closely with designers and UX researchers to turn prototypes into polished, production-ready interfaces.
• Create and maintain reusable components and front-end libraries to streamline development and ensure design consistency.
• Implement front-end logic and interactions that integrate smoothly with APIs and back-end services.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across design, product, and engineering to define and deliver exceptional user experiences.
• Ensure quality and maintainability through thoughtful code reviews, testing strategies, and adherence to best practices.
• Continuously optimize front-end performance and user experience based on feedback and usage data.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to help shape HelloBiome’s front-end strategy and capabilities.

The role

As a Back-End Engineer at HelloBiome, you will play a critical role in building and optimizing the infrastructure that powers one of our AI solutions based on large language models (LLMs). You will work closely with researchers, and software teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable back-end systems that enable rapid experimentation and high-quality outputs. Your work will ensure our platforms are robust, secure, and ready for production at scale, directly supporting the advancement of our microbiome-based solutions.
 

You will work in a collaborative environment, translating prototypes into reliable back-end services, and continuously improving our technology stack to meet evolving business and research needs. Your experimental and research-oriented mindset will be key as you partner with scientists to iterate quickly, validate new ideas, and deliver back-end solutions that set the standard for quality and innovation in the microbiome field.

Requirements

• Experimental and research-oriented mindset, comfortable working in fast-paced, iterative environments to rapidly test, evaluate, and refine back-end systems for quality outputs.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering reliable, maintainable code.
• 5+ years of experience in back-end software engineering, with a focus on building scalable, high-performance systems.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems using modern backend frameworks (e.g., Python/FastAPI, Node.js/Express, Go, or similar).
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines for robust deployment of data-intensive services.
• Strong knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL), data modeling, and data pipeline development for handling large-scale, unstructured data.
• Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to technical discussions and architectural decisions.
• Experience integrating and optimizing large language models (LLMs) or other AI/ML models into production environments, including model serving, monitoring, and versioning is a plus.
• Work with Vector Stores (Vector Databases) to enable efficient storage, retrieval, and management of embeddings and other high-dimensional data for AI applications is a plus.

The role

As the Senior AI Engineer at HelloBiome, you will spearhead our efforts to integrate advanced AI capabilities into our microbiome-based health solutions. In this pivotal role, you will lead a cross-functional team to innovate and enhance our AI-driven platforms, ensuring they are scalable, robust, and aligned with our strategic business goals. Your expertise will guide the development and implementation of machine learning models that power predictive analytics, personalized care, and medical image analysis, crucial for advancing consumer health technologies.

Collaborating closely with biologists, data scientists, and software engineers, you will translate complex business needs into functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring our technology roadmap continuously evolves to meet the dynamic demands of the industry. By establishing robust governance frameworks, you will oversee the lifecycle management of AI models, maintaining high standards of data integrity and compliance with global regulations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in the development and deployment of AI solutions
• Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders
• Proven track record and hands-on experience in software development
• Proven ability to lead and manage projects with cross-functional teams
• Extensive experience in building complex, load-ready ETL and ELT processes using various architectures (n-tier, monolith, microservices, etc.), hybrid stacks (Python, Node.js) and tools
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Excellent understanding of machine learning algorithms, and techniques including supervised learning, clustering, classification, and recommendation systems
• In-depth understanding of statistical methods and principles underlying machine learning algorithms, including hypothesis testing, probability theory, regression analysis, and Bayesian inference
• Experience with ethical AI practices and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations in the USA and EU
• Experience with healthcare data (e.g., electronic health records, medical imaging data, genomics data) is desirable
• Familiarity with data governance principles and best practices, including data quality management, metadata management, and data lineage tracking for model traceability and accountability
• Experience in driving innovation and thought leadership in research, contributing to publications, patents, or industry conferences is desirable

Responsibilities

• As a Senior AI Engineer, you’ll lead HelloBiome in advancing as a data-first organization, integrating AI into the existing systems, building new ones, and preparing the HelloBiome platform for scaling, reporting to CTO
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and translate them into functional and non-functional requirements
• Build and constantly align technology roadmap with business strategies and their KPIs
• Develop and implement machine-learning models and algorithms for microbiome applications, including medical image analysis, predictive analytics, personalized care, and recommendation systems
• Collaborate with biologists and software engineers to gather requirements, design solutions, and integrate machine-learning models into the HelloBiome platform
• Evaluate and validate models using appropriate metrics and techniques to ensure accuracy, reliability, and robustness
• Optimize machine learning algorithms for performance, scalability, and real-time processing
• Lead the establishment and maintenance of robust governance frameworks for product development and deployment, including model lifecycle management, risk assessment, technology vendor management, and compliance monitoring
• Ensure that data acquisition and processing activities comply with ethical standards and industry regulations
