Fulcrum is looking for a Game Developer/Game Mods Developer (Gaming) to join our team ( full-time, remote).

Project Overview

We are building an AI Gaming Assistant platform (desktop overlay + web) that provides real-time, contextual guidance to players during gameplay.
The product is currently at the discovery → MVP stage, focused on developing core functionality such as game-state capture and the AI guidance loop.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a desktop/overlay solution for in-game user experience
• Integrate with games via save files, APIs, mods, and other data sources
• Work with AI features (RAG, contextual hints, intelligent responses
• Contribute to MVP development and rapid hypothesis validation
  
  Requirements
• Experience in gaming / gamedev / modding
• Experience with desktop applications / overlays or complex integrations
• Solid understanding of data handling (parsing, APIs, data processing)
• Experience with or strong interest in AI / LLM solutions
• Experience building native Windows applications
• Experience working in early-stage / MVP environments
• Hands-on gaming experience and understanding of in-game mechanics
• Flexible with tech stack — we’re looking for a cross-functional mindset: ability to explore new technologies, validate ideas quickly, and deliver MVPs end-to-end
• Upper-Intermediate English or higher
   

Nice to Have

• Experience building native Windows applications
• Experience with Electron
• Familiarity with Overwolf or other overlay tooling
• Hands-on experience with game modding through personal projects

What Your Day Looks Like

 

As a Project manager

You scan dashboards, track deadlines and risks, and run stand-ups to surface blockers early. You keep the team moving by unblocking dependencies and aligning stakeholders on progress.

 

• Own and maintain sprint plans, roadmaps, and timelines
• Identify risks early and escalate when needed
• Manage scope, budget, and delivery expectations
• Balance resources — who is overloaded, who is free
• Provide clear status updates to stakeholders and leadership
• Review deliverables and push for fixes before they grow
• Think 2–3 steps ahead to keep the team unblocked

As a Business Analyst
 

You start by syncing with stakeholders and the team — stand-ups, Jira, Slack. You spend mid-morning in discovery: stakeholder interviews, workshops, and digging into root problems. Your output is structured and clear.

• Write user stories with clear acceptance criteria
• Create process diagrams (BPMN, flows, wireframe annotations)
• Produce PRDs, BRDs, and other requirement docs
• Act as the ’source of truth’ for requirements
• Collaborate with UX on edge cases and flows
• Support QA with expected behaviors and test prep
• Constantly ask: ’What problem are we actually solving?’

Key Responsibilities

• Own the product backlog: creation, grooming, prioritization, and refinement
• Gather requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and research
• Write structured deliverables: user stories, acceptance criteria, PRDs, process diagrams Plan and manage sprints, timelines, and delivery milestones
• Track project health: risks, blockers, scope changes, and resource allocation
• Communicate project status and expectations to stakeholders and leadership
• Collaborate daily with designers, developers, and QA to clarify and validate requirements
• Review built functionality against requirements and adjust documentation accordingly
• Continuously bridge business goals and product/engineering decisions
   

Job requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a PM/BA  in outsource companies
• Experience working on 2+ projects simultaneously
• Strong skills in requirements elicitation and documentation
• Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar tools
• Ability to write clear user stories and acceptance criteria
• Experience creating process diagrams (BPMN, UML, flowcharts)
• Strong communication and facilitation skills
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholders
• Upper-Intermediate English (written and spoken)
   

Nice-to-have
 

• Familiarity with UX/UI principles and tools (Figma, Miro)
• Experience in product-led or consulting company
• Exposure to technical architecture discussions

About the Role

We're looking for a Middle/Senior Game Designer to architect the entire game layer of our mobile learning app from scratch. This is not about adding a progress bar to an existing product — it's about designing a complete game system where learning is the core gameplay loop.

You'll own everything from high-level economy design (XP, currency, rewards) to micro-level interaction patterns (how a single lesson feels, what happens when you fail, why users come back tomorrow). You'll also shape the narrative world — characters, tone, story beats — that gives the experience personality and emotional pull.

This is a project-based engagement with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week.

What You'll Do

• Design the core gameplay loop: how users enter a lesson, interact with content, receive feedback, and progress
• Build the game economy from scratch: XP, coins/gems, streaks, lives, energy systems, reward schedules, and monetization hooks
• Design the progression system: levels, skill trees, difficulty curves, unlockables, and milestones that keep users motivated long-term
• Create the level design framework: lesson structure, question types, challenge variations, boss levels, and review mechanics
• Develop the narrative layer: characters, their personalities, story arcs, dialogue tone, and how narrative integrates with gameplay moments (onboarding, achievements, failures, celebrations)
• Define engagement and retention mechanics: push notification triggers, streak recovery, daily challenges, social features, leaderboards
• Write detailed Game Design Documents (GDDs) covering systems, mechanics, balancing, and edge cases
• Create flowcharts, diagrams, and spreadsheets that clearly communicate game logic to developers and designers
• Collaborate with the product, design, and development teams to ensure mechanics are technically feasible and aligned with learning goals
• Playtest, iterate, and balance — analyze user behavior data to tune difficulty, pacing, and reward systems

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in game design for mobile games, gamified apps, or interactive products
• Strong portfolio or case studies demonstrating game systems you designed — economy, progression, engagement loops
• Deep understanding of player psychology: motivation, flow state, variable reward schedules, loss aversion, social proof
• Experience designing difficulty curves and balancing systems that serve diverse user types (casual, hardcore, inconsistent)
• Ability to think in systems — you see how XP, streaks, lives, content difficulty, and narrative connect into one cohesive experience
• Excellent documentation skills — you can write a GDD that an engineer can build from without 10 clarifying meetings
• Familiarity with Duolingo, Memrise, Babbel, or similar gamified learning products — and an opinion on what they do well and what they don't
• Available for a minimum of 10 hours per week

Nice to Have

• Experience in EdTech, educational games, or serious games
• Background in narrative design — writing character dialogue, building story frameworks, defining tone of voice
• Understanding of behavioral science or learning theory (spaced repetition, active recall, zone of proximal development)
• Experience with A/B testing and data-driven balancing of game mechanics
• Familiarity with AI tools and how they can enhance game design workflows
• Experience designing social/competitive features (guilds, tournaments, cooperative challenges)

About the Role

We're looking for a Middle/Senior Illustrator to define and create the entire visual identity of our mobile app from scratch. Think Duolingo's Duo owl, Lily, and the cast of characters that make learning feel personal and fun — we need someone who can build that kind of illustrated universe for our product.

This is not a "one banner and done" gig. You'll create a full illustration system: characters, mascots, scenes, UI illustrations, onboarding visuals, achievement badges, and animated assets that work together as a cohesive visual language across the entire app.

This is a project-based engagement with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week.

What You'll Do

• Develop the product's visual identity — style, color palette, character design language, and illustration guidelines
• Create a cast of characters/mascots with distinct personalities, emotions, and poses for use across the app
• Design illustrations for key product moments: onboarding, lessons, achievements, streaks, level-ups, empty states, error screens, and notifications
• Create gamification-related visuals: badges, rewards, progress milestones, leaderboard elements, and celebration animations
• Produce icon sets and spot illustrations that support the UI without cluttering it
• Prepare assets for animation (Lottie/Rive-ready) in collaboration with the design and development team
• Maintain consistency across hundreds of assets as the product scales
• Collaborate closely with the UI/UX designer and product team to ensure illustrations enhance — not compete with — the user experience

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of professional illustration experience, with a strong portfolio of character design and product illustration
• Experience creating illustration systems for digital products — not just standalone pieces, but cohesive visual languages that scale
• Strong character design skills: ability to create expressive, memorable characters with a range of emotions and poses
• Understanding of how illustration works within UI — scale, hierarchy, whitespace, and readability on small screens
• Ability to work in a friendly, approachable, slightly playful style (think Duolingo, Headspace, Babbel)
• Experience preparing assets for developers — proper naming, export formats, asset organization
• Available for a minimum of 10 hours per week

Nice to Have

• Experience in EdTech, gamified apps, or products for a younger audience
• Animation skills — creating simple character animations in After Effects, Lottie, or Rive
• Experience with AI illustration tools 
• Understanding of accessibility in illustration (color contrast, cultural sensitivity, inclusive representation)
• Experience creating sticker packs, emoji sets, or avatar systems
• Background in children's book illustration, game art, or motion design

This is a greenfield opportunity — you'll shape the entire user experience from the ground up, starting with the mobile application as our primary platform. Later, the product will expand to web.

This role requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week.

What You'll Do

• Design the mobile app from zero — from concept and user flows to high-fidelity, dev-ready screens
• Create a visual language and design system for a gamified learning experience (progress mechanics, rewards, streaks, leaderboards, etc.)
• Build interactive prototypes to test and validate ideas early
• Ensure consistency and quality across all screens and interactions
• Adapt the design system for future web expansion

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in UI/UX design for mobile products (iOS and/or Android)
• Strong portfolio showing mobile app design, ideally built from scratch
• Experience with gamification mechanics — progress systems, rewards, engagement loops
• Solid understanding of mobile platform patterns and guidelines (HIG, Material Design)
• Experience with prototyping and interaction design
