Database Administrator (PostgreSQL)
Location — remote

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience as Database Designer and Administrator with cloud deployment.
• Strong knowledge in maintenance, and administration of PostgreSQL.
• Experience in performance optimization and DDL/DML reviews processes.
• Experience with AWS services: Amazon RDS.
• Excellent knowledge of DBA monitoring tools, Data Quality and third party tools.
• Ability to participate in the on-call incidents for operational issue escalation.

Key Responsibilities:

• SQL and NoSQL databases ownership (DevOps Infrastructure as Code, pipelines CI/CD).
• DB ad-hoc commands execution — e.g. run query on prod DB, create index etc.
• Designing and implementing databases — assist teams with developing and designing.
• Data security — access management, sensitive data protection.
• Upgrading and patching database — follow the latest updates and security patches.
• Monitoring database logs and alerts.
• Data integrity — ensure data consistency and accuracy.
• Maintenance — regular maintenance procedures.
• Backing up and recovery — backup and recovery procedures.
• Performance tuning — assist teams with performance issues.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving — improving existing and innovative solutions.
• DB capacity planning — capacity forecast for the future.
• Documentation — db design, configuration, playbooks.
• Experienced with AWS or another Cloud Providers.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Elastic Monitoring.

Nice to Have:

• Strong knowledge in maintenance, and administration Mongo databases.
• Experience with AWS services: Amazon Redshift, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Elasticache, Amazon DocumentDB (MongoDB).
• Basic knowledge of Linux, git, CI/CD.
• Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity.

Important to Know:

• Periodical duty on-calls are paid.
• The team includes 2 DBAs, and we are looking to hire 2 more candidates to strengthen the team.
