Aloha Mobile Ltd. develops Aloha Browser - a privacy-focused browser available across major platforms with 200M+ installs worldwide.
 

The product combines secure browsing, native encrypted VPN, advanced ad-blocking, privacy technologies and local/on-device AI. The company is actively developing agentic AI capabilities and building the next generation of privacy-first browsing experiences.

We are looking for a Chief Technology Officer who can combine deep technical expertise, strong engineering leadership and a product/business mindset.
 

The role

This is not a purely managerial CTO position.

We are looking for a hands-on technology leader who can own the technical vision, make architectural decisions, lead strong engineering teams and translate business/product KPIs into concrete engineering priorities.

The CTO will work closely with the Founder/CPO and C-level team and take ownership of technology decisions that directly impact MAU, LTV, product performance and company growth.
 

Key responsibilities

• Own the overall technology strategy and architecture across iOS, Android and Desktop.
• Lead and scale engineering teams working on a consumer product used by millions of users.
• Drive architecture of high-load, distributed and highly available systems.
• Translate business and product KPIs into engineering initiatives and measurable technical goals.
• Drive development in privacy, security, networking and local/hybrid AI.
• Lead high-impact R&D initiatives and evaluate new technologies based on their actual product/business impact.
• Ensure engineering excellence across performance, scalability, reliability and security.
• Build, develop and retain a high-performing engineering organization.
• Work closely with Product and other C-level stakeholders on product and technology strategy.
• Ensure compliance with Apple/Google platform requirements, privacy standards, security governance and global data regulations.
   

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience as CTO / VP of Engineering / Head of Engineering or in a comparable senior technology leadership role.
• Experience building and scaling mass-market B2C products with millions of users.
• Strong technical background — we need a CTO who can go deep into architecture and engineering, not only manage people.
• Strong expertise in mobile applications and/or browser technologies.
• Deep understanding of high-load distributed systems and architecture.
• Strong knowledge of low-level networking, security and cryptography.
• Experience or strong technical understanding of modern AI/ML, local/on-device or hybrid AI frameworks.
• Proven experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong data/product mindset: ability to connect engineering decisions with MAU, LTV and other business/product metrics.
• Ability to turn complex goals into clear technical priorities for engineering teams.
• Understanding of privacy, data sovereignty, security governance and App Store / Google Play ecosystems.
   

Strong advantage

Experience in one or several of these areas will be particularly valuable:

Browser technologies / AI companies / Mobile B2C / High-load consumer products / Backend & distributed systems / Privacy & Security.

Background in a successful technology startup or rapidly scaling product company is also highly relevant.

💻 We’re hiring: Senior PHP Developer (Payments)

We’re building next-gen payment infrastructure for high-volume, high-risk merchants.

Looking for a Senior PHP Developer to build and scale core payment systems — integrations, APIs, and backend architecture.

⚙️ Must have

• 5+ years of hands-on production experience in fiat/card payments ⚙️
• Deep understanding of card payment infrastructure and full payment lifecycle
• Strong experience integrating acquirers, PSPs, and payment processors
• Solid knowledge of card network rules and technical specifications
• Hands-on expertise with 3-D Secure (3DS2), Merchant-Initiated Transactions (MIT), and card-on-file / recurring payments
• Strong understanding of payment authentication data (CAVV, trace IDs, transaction indicators, etc.)
• Proven ability to debug and audit payment flows at request/response level
• Experience implementing integrations strictly according to processor/acquirer/network specs

🧠 Engineering & Architecture

• Strong full-stack / backend engineering background
• Experience designing APIs and complex billing/payment systems
• Familiarity with MoR / PayFac architecture (strong plus)
• Ability to independently architect and build a V1 payment platform from 0→1
• Comfortable being the first/solo engineer in a high-ownership environment
• Strong debugging skills and experience handling production incidents

🤖 AI-native workflow

• Actively uses AI tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) 🤖
• Uses AI for coding, debugging, code review, and validating implementations against specs
• Treats AI as a core productivity multiplier, not just an assistant

⭐ Nice to have

• Experience with Merchant of Record (MoR) or PayFac models
• Building payment infrastructure (not just integrating PSPs)
• Experience with multiple acquirers/processors
• Exposure to complex international payment flows

What you'll own?

Client & Growth (primary focus):

• Lead the technical side of proposals, solution design, and early discovery calls with prospective clients;

Engineering Organization:

• Own our delivery tech stack: languages, tooling, QA, DevOps, engineering methodology;
• Define what expertise we need to hire, grow, and retain - and build the tech leadership bench (PDPs, mentorship, internal programs);
• Grow ORIL's technical brand internally and within the engineering community (Lviv IT Cluster CTO community and similar).

What do we expect?

• 8+ years in engineering, with 3+ in a leadership role (CTO, VP Eng, Head of Engineering, Principal/Solution Architect, or founder of a technical team or similar);
• Demonstrated experience in client-facing technical work: pre-sales, solution design, discovery, or running your own client relationships;
• Possess strong, up-to-date technical knowledge to quickly evaluate complex architectures, identify structural flaws, and guide system design;
• Upper-Intermediate and higher English (B2) is required. You'll be presenting, negotiating, and speaking publicly;
• Act as a strategic bridge across teams to ensure clear communication and alignment;
• Lead with technical credibility and sharp architectural judgment to earn respect, while cultivating a high-performing, mentorship-driven culture.
   

Strong plus:

• PropTech, Real Estate, FinTech, IoT domain background;
• Valid US visa and prior US travel;
• Active in tech communities: speaking, writing, organizing, podcasting;
• Entrepreneurial track record - your own studio, agency, consulting practice, or a strong freelance profile;
• Current or recent CTO at a product or services company.
