For this internship, you need to have:

— Good knowledge of Python programming language;

Multiple independent teams contribute to different parts of the system. DataArt specialists are embedded across these teams. The mobile team is focused on shaping the future of the client’s mobile app—enhancing performance and evolving its functionality.

Position overview

Our client is seeking skilled Platform Engineers to enhance the security and manageability of their legacy platform. The role focuses primarily on AWS IAM for both users and services, with implementation delivered through Terraform and automation supported in Node.js or Python. The design and technical approach are already defined, with work broken down into clear, deliverable tasks prior to onboarding. Contractors will be responsible for efficiently executing this plan while ensuring quality, reliability, and alignment with platform standards.

Technology stack

AWS (3+ years, live infrastructure)
Terraform (IaC, tagging strategies, IAM)
Software engineering (Python OR Node.js / JavaScript)

Responsibilities

• Deliver AWS IAM improvements and refactoring for users, roles, and services.
• Implement infrastructure changes using Terraform following existing module patterns.
• Apply least-privilege and secure-by-default principles consistently across accounts.
• Contribute automation scripts or tooling in Node.js or Python as required.
• Collaborate with the tech lead and delivery manager to achieve defined milestones.
• Test, validate, and deploy IAM and Terraform changes through CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide clear delivery updates and proactively highlight blockers or risks.

Requirements

• Strong experience with AWS, especially IAM (roles, policies, permissions, service access).
• Proven delivery experience with Terraform (modules, pipelines, multi-account setups).
• Proficiency in Node.js or Python for automation or integration tasks.
• Track record of delivering results within agile, delivery-focused teams.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, TeamCity)

Your Project

Our client specializes in building and operating the online infrastructure that powers multiplayer experiences for some of the world’s most popular video games. They design and manage backend services that handle everything from player authentication and matchmaking to leaderboards and in-game transactions. Their technology ensures that millions of players can connect, compete, and interact seamlessly across platforms. By focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance, they enable game studios to deliver rich, engaging online features without compromising quality or stability.
The team you’ll join is responsible for the database platform for the company. They provide the technology to other internal teams to configure and deploy their services & game titles; maintain and upgrade database technologies; ensure stability and scalability across systems. We are looking for a person with excellent Python programming background, hands on experience working in k8s environment and proficient with the database technologies.

Your Role

• Develop, maintain and evolve the database platform and adapt it for cloud technologies
• Ensure high scalability and maintainability of the components
• Contribute to and review designs and code from other team members
• Perform testing and provide tooling to maintain up-to-date systems.
• Collaborate across teams to remediate database issues.
• Support migration from VMs to Kubernetes.

Your Profile

• At least 6+ years of Python development experience.
• Understanding of REST APIs.
• Strong experience with MySQL, Cassandra, or similar technologies.
• Experience with Kubernetes (mandatory) and Docker - must have.
• Familiarity with Vitess and Redis, or similar.
• Continuous integration and agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication and self-management skills.

Would be a plus

• Previous experience designing and building tooling for use by other engineers.
• Experience with game development or game engines
• Experience with large scale services (up to millions of concurrent users)
• Experience with Azure

Additional Notes
• Strong Python developer experience is critical.
• All technology runs on Kubernetes, so expertise here is essential.
