About the role

ClassOwl is a school-management system used by educational institutions. We are hiring a Middle+/Senior PHP Full-Stack Developer to join the team and work on our existing product.

The application is built on a custom PHP framework. Most tasks involve extending and improving the current application: adding product functionality, changing web interfaces, maintaining APIs and integrations, and investigating issues reported from staging or production.

The developer will work across backend and frontend parts of a feature. It is important to understand an existing codebase, make changes carefully, and consider how they affect different school installations. We expect the person to take part in a feature from clarification and estimation to implementation and code review.
 

What you will work with

Terms of cooperation

About the Project

We're building a slots/crash-game product with real-time gameplay and a strong focus on "juicy" UX: animated game UI, sound effects, and provably-fair verification. You'll own both the client and the server side — from the game interface and state management to round logic, autoplay, and betting API integration. The challenges revolve around smooth realtime interaction, resilient external integrations, and fair, deterministic game logic.

Responsibilities

• Develop the client with Next.js 16 + React + TypeScript: game UI, state on Zustand + TanStack React Query, styling with Tailwind CSS v4 and design tokens.
• Build "juicy" gameplay: Framer Motion animations, sound effects, character states, and i18n (multilanguage support).
• Implement server-side game logic with Node.js + TypeScript (Fastify): rounds, autoplay (take-profit/stop-loss), bet cancellation, and the Provably Fair verification page.
• Integrate the external betting API (Axios: token auto-refresh, circuit breaker) and realtime via WebSocket/Socket.IO.
• Work with a shared types package between client and server; set up the environment in Docker Compose.

Requirements (must-have)

• 3+ years with TypeScript, strong front-end (React/Next.js) and hands-on server-side development with Node.js.
• Experience with modern state-management (Zustand/Redux) and data-fetching (React Query).
• Confident Tailwind/modern CSS, attention to UX and animations (Framer Motion or similar), mobile-first.
• Understanding of working with external APIs (authorization, tokens, fault tolerance) and realtime.
• Middle+ autonomy, clean code, and solid Git flow.

Nice to Have

• Experience in iGaming/casino/crash-games, knowledge of provably-fair (HMAC-SHA256).

Senior / Strong Middle Backend Developer

We are expanding our engineering team and looking for a Senior / Strong Middle Backend Developer with substantial hands-on experience in iGaming.

iGaming experience is a mandatory requirement.

The domain itself is more complex than the development work: bonus wagering, payment cascading, jurisdictional restrictions, anti-fraud, and compliance requirements are all part of the day-to-day reality. You are expected to understand these concepts before starting work on the relevant tasks. We are not looking for someone who needs to learn the iGaming domain from scratch.

The product is already live and actively evolving. You will own a specific area of the product end-to-end and be responsible for its outcome, rather than simply working through a stream of small, isolated tasks.

How We Work

All tasks are managed through a project tracker and picked up from there — not from chat messages or ad-hoc conversations.

Our workflow is:

Specification & estimate → Development → Code review → Testing → Release

Code review is mandatory, but it is designed not to become a bottleneck. Reviewers may batch reviews and review multiple changes together. Once a merge request has been submitted, the developer moves on to the next task rather than waiting for the review to be completed.

The team already includes dedicated QA engineers, designers, and a DevOps engineer, so the backend developer can focus on backend development and ownership of their area.

Estimates are agreed and recorded upfront. After completion, we compare the actual effort against the original estimate to improve future planning.

About the Project

The product has evolved rapidly, and as a result, there is technical debt — as is common with systems that have grown faster than they have been systematically refactored.

The technical debt is identified, documented, and being addressed according to an established plan. We believe it is important to be transparent about this from the beginning.

If your priority is joining a project with a completely clean and fully polished codebase, this project may not be the right fit.

Our team builds with AI assistance and moves fast. Someone has to be the person who checks the work before it reaches the people who depend on us. That is the heart of this role. If your instinct when handed a large branch that passes its tests is "looks good, merge it," this is not your job.
 

Who we are

Psychable is a US company. We run a directory, marketplace, and education hub in the health and wellness space, connecting individuals with vetted practitioners.
 

We recently rebuilt our platform from WordPress into a modern Next.js and MongoDB application. The codebase is in genuinely good shape: a layered architecture with dependency rules enforced automatically by tooling, roughly 7,500 tests, and a written decision record behind every significant choice. We are proud of it and we intend to keep it that way.
 

The shape of the work

This is a part-time, ongoing contract. 10 to 20 hours per week to start, with room to grow. You need a few hours of daily overlap with US Eastern time.  
 

What you will own

The review gate. Review work before it ships. Catch what tests do not: missing indexes, race conditions, authorization gaps, dead code, events that silently record nothing. Say no when the answer is no, and explain why in a way a non-technical teammate can act on.
 

The live platform. Keep it running, fast, and secure. Own the deploys and the release process.

The architecture. Strict layering, enforced by tooling, currently at zero violations. Your job is to keep that number where it is.

Security. Authentication, sessions, access control, secrets, and dependencies. We treat this as non-negotiable and so should you.

Performance. Measured, not guessed. We want someone who reads a query plan before changing a query.

Our booking marketplace. The biggest project ahead: an individual books and pays for a consult with a practitioner, and the practitioner gets paid. Onboarding, availability, scheduling, payments, payouts, and disputes. Money movement, built carefully and tested to a higher standard than anything else we do.
 

A payment provider migration. Our subscription processor is changing. The code already isolates the provider behind an adapter, so this is scoped work, not an open-ended rewrite.

Code review experience. You have reviewed other people's work and caught real problems. You can tell us about a time you blocked something from shipping and why you were right.

Security fundamentals you actually apply: password hashing, session management and revocation, authorization enforced at every layer rather than just in the UI, protecting against account enumeration, and keeping secrets out of the codebase.

Fluency with AI-assisted development, and healthy skepticism of it. We use these tools daily. You should be faster with them and suspicious of their output. Both halves matter.
 

Respect for an architecture you did not design. You work within the pattern that exists and improve it deliberately, rather than rewriting it to your preference.
 

Testing discipline. You write tests that would actually fail if the code broke.
 

Clear, proactive written communication. You report progress and flag problems early without being chased. Most of our team is not technical, so you can explain a risk in plain language.

We're an early-stage start-up working at the intersection of legaltech and fintech. We're looking for a senior engineer to be our first hire, working directly alongside our CTO to build the product from the ground up. This is a high-ownership role, and cap-table access is on the table for the right candidate.

• Rigorous about failure paths. Idempotency is muscle memory (outbox pattern, stable IDs), and you reach for explicit state machines on payments, approvals, and sagas.
• Security-first mindset. You keep security in mind across the stack and recognise where extra caution is needed.
• Comfortable across a backend tech stack. Our main components are Go, PostgreSQL, gRPC, and FreeBSD, but we will also have components in Java and Python, so you must be comfortable across multiple domains. A little frontend work in TypeScript/React can also happen
• Strong in AI-driven development. You have a considered view on your toolset — when to trust the model and when not to — and how to build repeatable workflows.
• Structured enough to own the operational side — writing and following deployment runbooks and DR drills, and treating "we can do an almost-automatic failover at 03:00 without improvising" as a real requirement.

As a profile you will have experience working in Payments, Web3 or other FinTech domains where accurancy, consistency and security is of high importance.

You are comfortable working independent, but reporting to a team structure.

• Build features across our products, covering backend, frontend, and infrastructure
