We are looking for a Senior Python Developer with strong expertise in Django and AWS to join our Release Products team. This role offers high autonomy and ownership, requiring you to design, build, and maintain production-ready backend services while contributing to infrastructure and CI/CD improvements.

You will work closely with a senior engineering team, taking responsibility for the production system and ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. Ideal candidates are T-shaped engineers who thrive in fast-paced environments, can make independent technical decisions, and have hands-on experience with modern cloud and container technologies.

The project is exploring AI tools and approaches. We’re looking for someone interested in AI and familiar with the latest developments in the field.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Django backend services
• Own features end-to-end
• Contribute to infrastructure and CI/CD where applicable
• Work directly with a senior engineering team with minimal oversight
• Take responsibility for the production system, including troubleshooting and operational ownership

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional engineering experience
• Experience as a senior or lead-level contributor
• Production Django experience (not just Python)
• Strong in API design, data modeling, and performance optimization

• AWS expertise, including hands-on experience with EKS (not just theoretical Kubernetes)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions

This is a high-impact individual contributor role with broad scope. You will operate at the intersection of product, engineering, and business, driving strategy, architecture, and execution for some of the most critical areas of Preply.

What you’ll be doing

• Shape technical strategy & drive execution. Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to define and co-own the tribe’s engineering strategy and technical roadmap. Lead end-to-end strategic initiatives, from ideation to delivery, translating product vision into clear technical execution, aligning scope, milestones, and delivering measurable outcomes iteratively.
• Lead architecture & platform evolution. Act as a key architect for the future state of our systems. Evolve core services into a scalable, reliable platform by defining target architectures, driving migrations and deprecations, and ensuring technical excellence across performance, availability, and cost efficiency, always balancing long-term vision with pragmatism.
• Raise engineering excellence & developer experience. Continuously improve how we build. Identify bottlenecks, reduce friction, and drive initiatives that increase team productivity. Champion high engineering standards through RFCs, post-mortems, and quality frameworks (instrumentation, evaluations), ensuring we build the right things in the right way.
• Operate as a multiplier. Extend your impact beyond your own work. Mentor and influence Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and Engineering Managers, contribute to hiring, and elevate the overall technical bar. Stay hands-on for the most complex and high-impact challenges, leading by example where it matters most.

• Drive technical decision-making. Own critical technical and strategic decisions, including build-vs-buy trade-offs. Lead tooling and vendor evaluations with a clear understanding of total cost of ownership, ensuring decisions align with both technical needs and business goals.

• Strong Python expertise. Python is a core part of our stack, so we’re looking for someone who is very comfortable designing, building, and reviewing production systems in Python.

What you’ll be doing:

You will work in a cross-functional team alongside the Product Manager, Product Designer, UX Writers, Data Analytics, Technical Leads, Engineers and other cross-functional team members to deliver engaging features through A/B tests and build top-notch products, including, but not limited to:

• Develop and own backend features using Python/Django, supporting the creation of new backend services as well as design, create, and/or troubleshoot integrations with third-party vendors.
• Think beyond the code and about our customers, understand their needs, and define solutions with the team;
• Balance short-term speed of development with the long-term technical quality of our systems;

• As a Senior Engineer, you will leverage your experience to guide the team in making informed technical decisions, such as continuous improvement of best practices (test culture, code reviews, monitoring and scalability of our tools). 

   

What you need to succeed:

• Exposure to architectural patterns of a large, high-scale web application (e.g., well-designed APIs, high-volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms);
• Familiar and willing to support small JS/TS tasks when needed;
• Expertise in troubleshooting issues, identifying the root cause, mitigating it, and setting up safeguards to prevent future issues;
• High level of self-organization, ownership, and responsibility;
• A great collaborator with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Minimum B2 English level;

• Willingness to be on-call for your squad (1 week every 5 weeks).

Наразі шукаємо Python Developer, який долучиться до розробки внутрішніх інструментів для тестування OS Малевич. Це не про ручне чи автоматизоване тестування самої OS. Роль передбачає створення та підтримку внутрішнього продукту, який використовується для забезпечення якості та оптимізації процесів тестування.
 

Наш ідеальний кандидат має:

• досвід роботи з Python3 від 2 років;
• знання asyncio;
• ґрунтовне розуміння OOП, патернів проєктування та кращих практик програмування;
• досвід роботи з системами контролю версій (Git);
• базові знання docker та контейнеризованих середовищ;
• відмінні навички розв’язання задач та аналітичне мислення з високою увагою до деталей.
   

Буде плюсом:

• розуміння фреймворків для тестування (наприклад, Pytest, Unittest);
• знання OC Unix/Linux базово;
• знання multiprocessing та sockets;
• хороше знання SQL та досвід роботи з реляційними базами даних (наприклад, postgresql, sqlite);
• досвід роботи з інструментами CI/CD (Jenkins, bitbucket тощо);
• досвід роботи з хмарними платформами, такими як aws;
• досвід backend-розробки на Python для web-рішень (sockets, web-протоколи, zmq);
• знання бінарної серіалізації (messagepack, protobuf тощо);
• досвід роботи з мікросервісною архітектурою.

Вимоги до кандидата:
Ми шукаємо backend-розробника з 3–5 роками комерційного досвіду роботи на Python, який має реальний досвід та експертизу участі у production ready фінтех або банківських проєктах з активними користувачами, регулярними релізами та високими вимогами до стабільності й безпеки.

Кандидат повинен мати досвід створення backend-інтерфейсів, які використовуються веб- та мобільними клієнтами, а також практику роботи  з frontend-командами. Очікується вміння створювати та підтримувати API-контракти, забезпечувати зрозумілу обробку помилок, контроль доступів та керування версіями API.

Кандидат має досвід побудови та підтримки серверної частини у мікросервісній архітектурі, включно з розробкою сервісів на FastAPI та/або aiohttp, використанням асинхронних підходів, фонових процесів і черг завдань. 

Важливим є практичний досвід роботи з реляційними базами даних (PostgreSQL та/або Oracle), а також застосування Redis для кешування або асинхронної обробки.

Очікується досвід роботи з платіжними або фінансовими сервісами, включно з інтеграціями, повʼязаними з фінансовими операціями, платежами або переказами, а також розуміння підвищених вимог до надійності таких систем.

Важливим є досвід командної роботи: використання Git, участь у code review, готовність обговорювати технічні рішення з командою та відповідальність за якість коду в продакшн-середовищі.

Додатковою перевагою буде базове розуміння Keycloak, Redis, Docker і підходів до логування та моніторингу.
