Head / Lead Java Engineer (igaming)

We are looking for a Head / Lead Java Engineer to lead the development of our high-load platform while remaining deeply involved in engineering and architecture decisions.

This role combines technical leadership, hands-on software development, and team management. You will be responsible for designing and evolving highly loaded microservices, driving architectural decisions, ensuring system scalability and reliability, and building strong engineering practices across the team.

You will work with modern cloud-native technologies and a diverse data ecosystem while helping the business scale through reliable, cost-efficient, and resilient technical solutions.

What You’ll Own

— Design, develop, and improve a system of highly loaded microservices and distributed service
— Write production code and actively contribute to technical implementation
— Drive architecture decisions around scalability, reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency
— Ensure low-latency and high-throughput system performance across critical business services
— Select and evolve data storage solutions based on workload requirements, balancing relational databases, NoSQL stores, caching, and streaming technologies
— Own platform observability, monitoring, metrics, logging, and alerting practices
— Ensure effective deployment strategies, release processes, and meaningful test coverage
— Build reliable event-driven architectures using Kafka and microservice design principles
— Lead and grow the engineering team through hiring, mentoring, code reviews, and regular 1:1s
— Establish engineering standards, ownership models, on-call processes, and delivery practices
— Represent the team in cross-functional discussions and help align technical initiatives with business goals

What We’re Looking For

— 10+ years of Java development experience
— 5+ years in a Technical Lead role
— Strong experience building and operating low-latency, high-throughput production systems
— Expert knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Hibernate
— Deep understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and non-blocking I/O
— Strong experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases and a practical understanding of their trade-offs
— Production-grade AWS architecture experience
— Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native applications
— Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and Kafka
— Experience designing and maintaining REST and GraphQL APIs

— Hands-on experience with Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK
— Upper-Intermediate English or higher

Nice to Have

— Experience in iGaming, fintech, payments, or another highly regulated domain
— Experience building multi-region architectures
— Strong understanding of backup, disaster recovery, and resilience strategies
— Experience operating PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Cassandra, ClickHouse, and streaming platforms in production environments.

Requirements:

- 2+ years of experience as a Product Manager/Growth Product Manager;

- Experience managing acquisition and funnel products: registration → KYC → first deposit;

- Experience working with performance marketing teams and understanding traffic unit economics;

- Hands-on experience conducting A/B tests and making data-driven decisions;

- Experience working with web/mobile funnels, player onboarding, and CRM-triggered communications;

- Ability to independently formulate hypotheses and drive them to measurable results;

- Experience with analytics tools: Amplitude / Mixpanel / GA4 / Tableau / Power BI;

Responsibilities:

- Own the user funnel from the first visit to the first deposit;

- Identify and eliminate conversion drop-off points at every stage of the funnel;

- Improve conversion rates between registration, KYC, and first deposit stages;

- Analyze the behavior of new users within the product;

- Build and prioritize the backlog based on data, tests, and user feedback;

- Develop and maintain acquisition metrics systems and dashboards;

- Launch A/B tests and evaluate their effectiveness;

- Work on onboarding, payments UX, and registration UX;

- Optimize the time-to-first-deposit metric;

- Collaborate closely with performance marketing, CRM, BI, and payments teams;

- Create product requirements for the development team;

- Synchronize product changes with marketing and communication campaigns;

- Improve the efficiency of acquisition channels through product enhancements;

- Improve the quality of acquired traffic;

- Influence CAC through conversion optimization.
