    The Role

    As a Founding Engineer, you will build the platform from zero to one. You will be the first technical hire, owning the core architecture that powers the post-loss experience.

    This is a high-ownership role where you will translate messy, real-world workflows into elegant software. You will work directly with the founder to define how AI is embedded into the product from the start. There are no legacy systems and no handoffsβ€”just real responsibility from day one.

    This role is backend-leaning and workflow-heavy. It is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building systems that handle long-running, asynchronous, and complex real-world processes.

    • Orchestration Systems: Design core backend systems that manage complex, long-running legal and financial workflows.
    • Real-World Data Models: Build APIs and schemas grounded in the constraints of institutional, financial, and legal systems.
    • AI-Powered Tooling: Develop internal tools that use LLMs to manage long-running cases, summarize state, and automate document-heavy workflows.
    • Product Surfaces: Create interfaces that provide families with clear visibility into their progress, blockers, and next steps over time.
