We're building generative image models for character-based children's entertainment, and we're looking for an AI Research Engineer to train, fine-tune, and improve them.

This is a research and model-training role. You'll work from datasets prepared by a separate data cleaning and preparation team. Your job is to make the models better: improve image quality, character consistency, style consistency, and prompt adherence through structured experimentation.

We're looking for someone who reasons scientifically about model behavior, who can look at a failing output and determine why, then fix and test the solution. This requires more skills than simply training a model.

We're delivering industry-leading character and style consistency. You'll be a key part of this team, pushing the boundaries of what's possible for some of the biggest names in entertainment.

What you'll do:

• Train and fine-tune diffusion models (LoRA and related methods)
• Design and run controlled ML experiments: architectures, hyperparameters, training strategies
• Evaluate output quality using visual, quantitative, and human-evaluation methods
• Diagnose failed generations and identify the model-side cause (identity consistency, captions, regularization, LoRA rank, learning rate, architecture limits)
• Improve character consistency, style consistency, and prompt adherence
• Compare outputs across experiments and keep clear experiment logs
• Give the data team specific, actionable feedback on what data improves model performance
• Recommend changes to training strategy based on results

Requirements

• Strong Python and PyTorch
• Hands-on experience training or fine-tuning deep learning models
• Experience with diffusion models and generative image systems
• Experience with LoRA, DreamBooth, or similar fine-tuning methods
• Solid grounding in computer vision and deep learning fundamentals
• Ability to design controlled experiments and isolate variables
• Comfortable interpreting loss curves and debugging training behavior (overfitting, underfitting, dataset bias)
• Strong documentation and experiment-tracking habits
• Able to work independently in a remote, startup-style environment

• Project Description:

  Join the Data Engineering team to contribute to the ongoing maintenance and improvement of an internal LLM-powered assistant that uses hosted LLM APIs and internal knowledge sources, with a focus on reliability, retrieval quality, and operational excellence.

• Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance ingestion/enrichment pipelines for internal content (parsing/extraction, normalization, metadata enrichment, deduplication, and quality monitoring)
  • Improve indexing and retrieval performance and quality (chunking/segmentation refinements, embedding/index update workflows, metadata filtering, caching) and support hybrid retrieval capabilities (vector + keyword/BM25 + metadata)
  • Implement and maintain access-aware retrieval by propagating/enforcing document permissions through indexing and query-time filters, including audit logs and validation tests
  • Improve source attribution so responses reliably point to the correct documents and sections in a consistent format.
  • Extend and harden tool/workflow execution and automations (scheduled/trigger-based), including retries, timeouts, idempotency, concurrency controls, and run history
  • Develop and maintain evaluation and regression testing (golden sets, automated scoring) and support structured comparisons across LLM providers/models as required
  • Operate the platform in production: observability (logs/metrics/tracing), alerting, incident support, performance tuning, and cost controls, plus runbooks and handover documentation

• Mandatory Skills Description:

  8+ years of hands-on experience in Data Science and 5+ years in Machine Learning, with a proven track record, demonstrated through a robust portfolio of projects.
  Strong programming skills in languages such as Python and familiarity building ETL pipelines.
  Expertise in SQL and experience with both relational (preferably Postgres) and NoSQL databases (Open Search or Elastic Search)
  Familiarity with AWS cloud platform and its services.
  Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  Ability to build scalable infrastructure to embed and search very large number of documents.
  Ability to move fast in an environment where things are sometimes loosely defined and may have competing priorities or deadlines.
  Expertise in ML inference optimizations

  Knowledge of network optimization for distributed ML training and inference.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

• System Developer – Custom AI & Multi-Agent Systems (Python / Gemini): is responsible for development to design, implement, and maintain a custom, production-grade AI system built in Python and powered by Google Gemini models.
• This role focuses on developing a multi-agent architecture that collaborates to solve domain-specific problems using a tightly controlled set of internal and external APIs.
• The developer will work closely with backend engineers and domain experts to ensure that AI outputs are accurate, explainable, and aligned with real-world system behavior.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensuring that AI agents interact with this platform in a reliable, deterministic, and secure manner, using well-defined API contracts and business rules. 
• Designing agent roles and coordination strategies, implementing prompt and tool-use logic, and managing context boundaries so agents operate efficiently within defined data and API limits.

• Building supporting infrastructure such as agent orchestration logic, error handling and fallback mechanisms, observability and logging, and test harnesses for validating agent behavior against known scenarios.

   

REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong proficiency in Python, including production-quality code, testing, and debugging
• Hands-on experience integrating large language models, preferably Google Gemini
• Experience designing or working with multi-agent or tool-augmented AI systems
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and secure service-to-service communication

• Solid understanding of system design, state management, and asynchronous workflows
