We are transforming our fleet management platform and data processing infrastructure from a monolithic application to a modern, event-driven microservices architecture. This includes shifting from a tightly coupled relational database to a scalable, multi-tenant event stream platform and Kubernetes operators development. 

Job Description 

We are seeking an experienced Go Backend Engineer to join the team responsible for transforming the platform into a multi-tenant, event-driven architecture. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience with Go microservices, distributed data flows, and Kubernetes-based deployments in cloud environments. 

This role involves designing and developing backend services, integrating real-time messaging pipelines, ensuring high observability standards, and collaborating with platform, data, and DevOps teams. 

Technical Requirements 

• 5+ years of backend software development experience. 
• Strong professional experience with Go (Golang). 
• Practical experience designing or maintaining microservices. 
• Experience with event-driven messaging systems such as Apache Pulsar (preferred), Kafka, or NATS.

Responsibilities 

• Design, implement, and maintain Go microservices powering the data platform.

Minimum Qualifications
    •    5+ years of professional experience with Go, preferably in infrastructure software, system tooling, or shared backend libraries rather than only application services.
    •    Solid understanding of build systems, version control internals, and tooling used in monorepo environments.
    •    Hands-on experience with performance profiling, low-level debugging, and concurrent programming in Go.
    •    Background contributing to internal platforms, build pipelines, or developer tooling (open-source contributions are a plus).
    •    Familiarity with CI/CD processes and automation practices.
    •    Strong Linux environment knowledge and scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar).
    •    Clear written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications
    •    Experience with large-scale build tools such as Bazel, Buck, Pants, or comparable systems.
    •    Knowledge of Git internals, large repository management, and optimization of commit workflows.
    •    Previous work in developer productivity engineering or internal platform teams.
    •    Contributions to open-source Go projects or infrastructure-related libraries.
    •    Exposure to security tooling, static code analysis, or automated review systems.
    •    Experience working in enterprise-level engineering environments with complex development infrastructure.

Not a Fit If You
    •    Have limited experience with Go or used it only for web/API development.
    •    Primarily come from a frontend, full-stack, or traditional Java enterprise background.
    •    Have not worked with infrastructure-level or system tooling projects.
 

Main Responsibilities

– Participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of server-side code for web applications and services, ensuring it is efficient, scalable, and secure

– Design and manage databases, including schema design and improvements, query optimization, and ensuring data integrity and security

– Develop and maintain integrations between different parts of the system and with external services, ensuring robustness and clear documentation

– Ensure code is developed with a comprehensive understanding of deployment procedures and how it will function within the overall project scope

– Implement and maintain comprehensive test coverage to ensure the reliability and stability of the codebase

– Regularly maintain and refactor the codebase to address issues, improve performance, and manage technical debt

– Work closely with a geographically distributed team of engineers, QA, UI/UX designers, and PMs to ensure seamless integration, align on project goals, and collaboratively address technical challenges

– Implement and adhere to security best practices to protect against common vulnerabilities and ensure the safety of the application and its data

Mandatory Requirements

– 4+ years of experience in commercial software development

– Experience with the Go programming language (or any other similar), including its syntax, standard library, and best practices for writing efficient, clean, and maintainable code

– Experience with relational databases, including writing and optimizing SQL queries, designing schemas, and managing migrations

– Basic understanding in containerizing applications using Docker and managing Dockerfiles

– Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automating build, test, and deployment processes, and familiarity with tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions

– Proficiency in Git for version control, including branching, merging, pull requests, and code review practices

– Proficiency in testing and debugging, including writing unit and integration tests

– Ability to design and implement scalable RESTful and GraphQL APIs, with a strong emphasis on security best practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10)
