We are looking for a Full Stack Tech Lead with a strong frontend orientation to become a senior technical force for our client. This is a hands-on leadership role - you will be writing code every day, but you will also be the person others look to for architectural direction, technical decisions, and cross-stack ownership.

You are comfortable owning both the frontend experience and the backend systems that power it. You have the depth to make architectural calls on the full stack, and the communication skills
to align the team and stakeholders around them. Frontend-first in mindset, but no stranger to backend work when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and delivery of complex, full stack features across the platform
• Own frontend systems end-to-end while extending into backend (Node.js / NestJS) as the work requires
• Drive architectural decisions across both frontend and backend —with a focus on scalability, observability, and long-term maintainability
• Set technical standards, conduct thorough code reviews, and raise the bar across the engineering team
• Collaborate directly with product and design - wear many hats, bridge technical decisions with business context, and move fast without losing quality
• Lead client-facing technical projects spanning diverse industries, making a real-world impact with each deployment
• Contribute to and shape Ballerine's broader technology strategy
• Mentor and support engineers on the team, helping them grow their skills and ownership

• Actively contribute to open-source development in line with Ballerine's open-source
principles
• Leverage AI and LLM tooling in your day-to-day engineering - from prototyping and code
generation to integrating AI-powered features directly into the product

Requirements

• 8+ years of commercial engineering experience, with clear evidence of technical leadership
• Expert-level knowledge of React and TypeScript
• Strong backend proficiency: Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, REST APIs
• Experience with cloud infrastructure — AWS preferred — and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, distributed systems, and scalable backend design
• Strong understanding of state management patterns and architecture at scale
• Strong understanding of security practices, particularly in fintech or regulated environments
• Demonstrated ability to take full ownership of projects and drive them to completion independently
• Startup experience - comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and wearing multiple hats
• AI-native engineering mindset: actively leverages LLMs and AI tooling as part of your everyday development workflow
• Excellent English communication — able to articulate technical decisions clearly to any audience
• Proven remote work track record with consistent, long-term impact in previous roles

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with xState or similar state machine libraries
• Experience building LLM-powered product features - prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, AI agents, or OpenAI / Bedrock integrations
• Experience with Temporal, Redis, or Prometheus / Grafana
• Open-source contribution history
• Prior experience in identity verification, KYC/KYB, or financial compliance products
• Comfort working in the open — contributing to documentation, RFCs, or internal technical writing

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our client's engineering team in a long-term engagement. This is a fully remote, full-time role for someone who takes real ownership of frontend systems end-to-end, collaborates naturally with backend engineers, and cares deeply about code quality, architecture, and user experience.

You will not be expected to work deeply on backend implementation — but you should be comfortable reading it, understanding it, and integrating cleanly with it.

• 7+ years of commercial engineering experience — senior-level candidates only
• Expert-level knowledge of React and TypeScript
• Strong grasp of modern frontend architecture, state management (including xState), and performance optimisation
• Experience in monorepo environments (Nx, Turborepo, or similar)
• Solid understanding of API integration patterns — REST and/or GraphQL — and data flows
• Ability to work independently and deliver consistently in a distributed, remote team
• Excellent English communication skills — written and verbal
• AI-native engineering mindset — you actively use LLMs and AI tooling as part of your everyday development workflow
• Proven track record of long-term, high-impact contributions in previous roles

This is a full-time opportunity for a hands-on engineer who can take ownership of cloud data platforms and backend systems, working with high-volume IoT data and real-time analytics in production environments.

Responsibilities:

• Own and operate the cloud-based backend and data platform supporting large-scale IoT deployments
• Architect, build, and maintain high-volume data ingestion pipelines using GCP services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub)
• Design and manage streaming and batch data workflows for real-time and historical analytics
• Define data storage, querying, retention, and archiving strategies across warehouses and data lakes
• Ensure backend services, APIs, and data pipelines are secure, scalable, observable, and fault-tolerant
• Set up monitoring, logging, alerting, and recovery strategies for event-driven workloads
• Collaborate closely with the CTO, embedded engineers, and product teams to align device capabilities with cloud and data architecture
• Contribute to data platform evolution, including governance, access policies, and metadata management

Requirements:

• 3–5 years of commercial engineering experience in cloud, data, or backend roles
• Strong hands-on experience with GCP and its data ecosystem (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub)
• Solid experience with relational databases (Postgres, MySQL), including schema design, migrations, indexing, and scaling strategies
• Proven experience building and maintaining data pipelines, particularly for IoT or time-series data
• Hands-on experience with Python (Node.js is a plus)
• Experience designing and consuming APIs in distributed or microservices-based systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, environment management, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Good understanding of cloud security, IAM, and best practices for production systems
• Ability to work independently in a startup environment and make pragmatic technical decisions

• Google Professional Data Engineer certification
• Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow / Cloud Composer
