We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator with strong expertise in PostgreSQL and MySQL to join our team. Experience with additional database technologies such as SQL Server and MongoDB is a strong advantage. This role also involves working with cloud-native database services across providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure. Candidates with database migration experience will be given preference.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL and MySQL databases in production environments
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization of database systems
• Perform database migrations (on-premises to cloud and cross-cloud environments)
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues across development, testing, and production environments
• Implement database monitoring, backup strategies, and security best practices
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and data teams on schema design, query tuning, and ETL pipelines
• Participate in capacity planning, cost optimization, and automation initiatives
• Document database systems, configurations, procedures, and runbooks
  
  
  Required Qualifications:
• 4 years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments
• 4 years of experience with MySQL
• Experience with at least one public cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including managed database services (e.g., RDS, Cloud SQL)
• Strong SQL skills with a solid understanding of indexing, query optimization, and partitioning
• Proven knowledge of backup & recovery strategies, replication, and high-availability configurations
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible)
• Experience supporting database migration projects (e.g., PostgreSQL to cloud, MongoDB to Atlas, SQL Server upgrades)
• Familiarity with MongoDB, SQL Server, Neo4j, or other NoSQL databases
• Experience with ETL tools, BigQuery, or data warehousing concepts
• Relevant certifications (PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Exposure to DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code tools

THE ROLE

You will be the analytical owner of your product domain- turning data into decisions for Product, R&D, Operations, and Business teams. Day to day, you will work hands-on in SQL and BI tools, partner closely with PMs and engineers, and help shape the strategic direction of the product through evidence.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own all analytical aspects of your assigned product domains.
• Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics, and monitor the integrity and validity of the data behind them
• Use analytical tools, data mining, and business logic to consult the Product team on day-to-day questions and decisions 
• Analyze and optimize products and activities- take part in design and implementation as a key voice in strategic product decisions
• Own and manage multiple data initiatives and projects, both ongoing and ad-hoc
• Define alerts and monitor performance to improve process efficiency
• Provide supporting data to help prioritize new features and initiatives 

• Work closely with Product, R&D, Operations, and Business teams

   

WHAT YOU'LL NEED (must-have)

• 4+ years in a Product / Data / Business / Operations Analyst role in a data-rich environment 
• Current position MUST be an analyst role at a tech company (no finance, banking, or insurance backgrounds) 
• Excellent SQL - daily, hands-on query writing. This is not a role where SQL is occasional; expect to live in it.
• Strong verbal English (B2+ or higher). You will present findings to PMs, engineers, and business stakeholders directly in English every week - fluency matters.
• Excellent communication skills - the ability to deliver the results of an analysis clearly, concisely, and confidently 

• Proven experience using AI tools in your analytics workflow (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar for query generation, data exploration, or summarization)

   

NICE TO HAVE (advantage, not required)

• Hands-on experience with Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
• Experience analyzing datasets via an LLM tool

• Passion for sports

   

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR

• Analysts coming from finance, banking, or insurance -we are looking specifically for tech / SaaS / product backgrounds
• Anyone whose English is below confident B2; this role is stakeholder-facing in English daily
• SQL-light profiles- if you write a few queries a week rather than every day, this role will not fit

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer / Tech Lead to own core backend development on the Backslash platform. This is a high-ownership role — you'll drive architectural decisions, implement customer-facing features, and keep systems performant and secure at scale. The right person is analytical, self-sufficient, and comfortable working end-to-end with minimal hand-holding.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of backend development in Node.js and TypeScript
• Lead architectural improvements and simplification of existing systems
• Implement and deliver customer feature requests end-to-end
• Ensure high performance — memory optimization, throughput, and scalability
• Maintain strong application security practices (AppSec) across the codebase
• Participate in an on-call rotation (week-by-week basis)
• Guide technical decisions and mentor team members as a Tech Lead
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, security research, and customer teams

Requirements

• 6+ years of backend development experience
• Deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript
• Experience in or readiness to step into a Tech Lead role
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — a must
• Solid understanding of application security (AppSec) principles and practices
• Hands-on experience with memory optimization and performance tuning
• Able to work independently, own tasks from spec to production
• English B2+ — clear written and verbal communication

Nice to Have

• Experience in an AppSec-focused product environment — significant advantage
• Familiarity with security packages and vulnerability management tooling (e.g. npm audit, Snyk, OSV, SAST/SCA concepts)
• Background in customer-facing or feature-driven development
• Exposure to code analysis, static analysis, or software supply chain security concepts
