Senior Backend Engineer

This is a keystone hire. As our Senior Backend Engineer, you'll own the data and AI backbone of our ERP platform — the migration paths, ingestion layer, retrieval pipelines, and agentic systems that everything else depends on. Your work directly unblocks the rest of the product roadmap.

You'll design services and APIs that move data between factory floors, enterprise systems, and our AI and analytics workflows. You'll bridge on-prem and cloud, streamline data flows across environments, and keep the system reliable, scalable, and ready for what's next.

The ideal candidate thrives in startup ambiguity, has a track record of shipping new products from zero, and balances speed, usability, and the realities of regulated manufacturing.

What You'll Do

1. Own ERP data migration.

Lead the migration of customer data from legacy ERP and MES systems into our platform — schema mapping, transformation pipelines, validation, and cutover strategy.

2. Build factory connectivity and ingestion.

Design and ship services that ingest and aggregate data from ALS, IIoT devices, and enterprise systems on the shop floor, bridging on-prem and cloud reliably.

3. Build and manage the RAG pipeline.

Architect retrieval-augmented generation infrastructure that grounds our AI features in customer-specific manufacturing, quality, and compliance data.

4. Build AI agent workflows and analytics.

Develop agentic workflows and predictive / statistical analytics services that turn raw operational data into decisions and actions.

5. Implement and maintain MCP servers.

Build and operate Model Context Protocol servers that expose Cinovatech's data and tools to AI agents, with the security, schema discipline, and observability required for production use.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years building and maintaining backend services or data-intensive web applications in production.
• Agent-driven AI engineering practice — Claude Cowork as your primary tool, with strong hands-on experience using Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar.
• Disciplined about controlling quality, stability, and extensibility in agent-generated work.
• Strong experience with modern backend frameworks — Node.js, C#, or Python.
• Production experience with PostgreSQL — schema design, query optimization, and operating it at scale.
• Disciplined engineering fundamentals — SOLID, DRY, and Domain-Driven Design applied to complex business domains, with CI/CD pipelines, unit tests, and integration tests as part of your normal workflow.
• Hands-on with AWS services — RDS, ECS, SQS, S3, Bedrock, IoT Core.
• Exposure to integrating with AI providers — OpenAI, Bedrock, Claude, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in fast-moving startup environments — comfortable with weekly delivery cadence, evolving priorities, and shipping under ambiguity without breaking what matters.
• Experience building enterprise SaaS for complex, data-intensive, or manufacturing domains (ERP, MES, CRM).
• Hands-on with Industrial IoT protocols — MQTT, OPC-UA, Modbus.
• Experience with message-based or streaming systems (Kafka, Google Pub/Sub).
• Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, GAMP 5, ISO 13485, or similar.
