Senior Data Engineer for a Startup

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. You will be working closely with a team in a fast-growing startup distributed across the U.S., Ukraine, and Poland. This is a long-term opportunity where you'll get a chance to work not just as an engineer, but also take leadership responsibilities and steer the product journey as we're moving towards the next round of investment. 

 

Requirements: 🎯

 

  • MUST: Extensive experience with from-scratch database design;
  • MUST: Advanced English (you must be able to freely communicate with a U.S.-based team);
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or similar roles;
  • Strong expertise with Apache stack: Hadoop, Spark, Druid;
  • Strong expertise with databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB;
  • Experience with vector databases: Weaviate, Pinecone, etc;
  • High proficiency in SQL query writing and optimization, including DDL and DML;
  • Deep understanding of OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) and OLAP (Online Analytical Processing);
  • Understanding of scalable data storage and processing system principles;
  • Experience with distributed data storage systems;
  • Query performance optimization and indexing skills;
  • Experience with ETL/ELT approaches and building data pipelines;

 

Would be a plus: ✨

 

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science or related fields;
  • Experience with migrations across multiple large-scale systems;
  • Understanding of Data Governance and Data Security;
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) for database management;
