Data Systems Engineer

On behalf of our Client from the UK, Mobilunity is looking for a Data Systems Engineer.

Our Customer is an award-winning full service digital agency, specialising in open source web development with a growing team of over 70 talented and creative individuals. Specialising in open source web technologies such as Magento they aim to work to identify the best technology that meets the needs of the business and exceeds expectations.

A newcomer will typically join a project and work alongside a lead developer, project manager, and QA to deliver new features and functionality. Where appropriate the developer may be involved in our ‘Continual Development’ where they will deliver small phases of work for existing sites. If the developer has experience with Magento upgrades and interest in working on such tasks, they may also be involved in delivering these.

Responsibilities:
✏️ Implement, maintain and develop management systems across the business, including Atlassian Jira, based on requirements of both day-to-day delivery management/tracking and company-wide reporting
✏️ Optimise data structures in each system to minimise duplication and ensure data remains clean and consistent
✏️ Work with ETL, data warehouse and BI tools to reliably combine data from multiple systems/platforms into a fully related, normalised structure suitable for efficient
tracking and reporting
✏️ Liaise with internal stakeholders from the operations and finance teams to ensure management systems and reporting outputs meet business requirements
✏️ Automate distribution of specific reports to the relevant stakeholders
✏️ Identify and suggest potential improvements to systems and data structures which would delivery enhanced insight and operational efficiencies, based on a comprehensive understanding of business processes
✏️ Maintain a roadmap of improvements, work with business stakeholders to prioritise them and ensure they are delivered accordingly
✏️ Implement rigorous data quality assurance processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness and integrity
✏️ Ensure all company data remains secure, with access provided to relevant members of the team
✏️ Maintain full documentation of the systems and structures in place

Requirements:
✅ Experience with cloud-based data storage, transformation and analysis/reporting platforms, including data warehouses, ETL and BI systems
✅ Experience with Atlassian Jira, MySQL and PHP/Laravel development specifically would be advantageous
✅ Advanced relational database (MySQL or similar) schema development/maintenance and querying skills
✅ Proven experience as a Data Analyst, Data Systems Engineer or similar role
✅ Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in work
✅ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
✅ Excellent communication (written and verbal), organisational and interpersonal skills
✅ Ability to work autonomously but also as part of a team
✅ A constant desire to improve efficiency and usefulness of management systems and reporting outputs
✅ Level of English – Upper-Intermediate and higher
