Engineering Manager (offline)

WHO YOU ARE
You are an expert, who just loves the technical side of data.

You'll work closely with our data scientists and data engineers to build complex algorithms that provide unique insights into our data.

You are a team player and team leader, who has strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• We expect this role to be hands on, building the data science department from the ground up while contributing to improving the product
• Model front end and back end data sources to help draw a more comprehensive picture of user flows throughout our system and enable powerful data analysis
• Establish the consistent practices to ensure data integrity and deal with imperfections in data
• Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and other ‘big data’ technologies
• Develop and maintains scalable data pipelines and builds out new API integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity
• Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics
• Coach your team on applying the appropriate machine learning algorithm to data problems (e.g. supervised vs. unsupervised machine learning, clustering, ensemble methods, etc.); validate model results
• Make sure the prepared models are deployed and monitor; communicate results in a clear and non-technical manner
• Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader
• Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems
• Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, informatics, statistics, computer science or another quantitative field. and 4+ years of experience in the data science field
• Fluent in English (C1/C2)
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills, process oriented with great documentation skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service
• Expert SQL and Python skills
• Knowledge of data structures and data architecture
• Experience with machine learning, statistical and predictive modeling; experience in NLP and/or image recognition is a plus
• Experience with at least one of the ML frameworks
• Driven, hard work ethic showing commitment
• Strong organizational skills including attention to detail
• Focus on outcomes and quality of output
• Empathetic and team player
