We work at the forefront of eReader development, making interactive digital textbooks and eBooks available to schools and to consumers who enjoy immersive reading on the web and mobile devices. Our customer base is expanding rapidly, so we are seeking Full-stack Engineers (but if you are interested in the back-end it works for us either) who are eager to learn or innovate on the latest frameworks and techniques to solve various technical challenges such as web application scaling, security, and performance.

Our application is a standard Ruby on Rails app deployed through Docker. We currently use SQL databases (MySQL migrating to Postgres) and will be integrating Redis for performance enhancements. Our web assets are built with a mix of Backbone, React, SASS, TS, CSS, EJS Templates, JS, and HTML.

Responsibilities:

1. Deliver maintainable, well-tested and structured code and documentation.
2. Be able to work independently and resolve technical tasks with minimal guidance. This includes not only code but research and decision-making regarding best practices.
3. Communicate effectively with co-workers to ensure team efficiency and provide mentoring as needed to more junior developers.
4. Review pull-requests as requested and, more broadly, maintain a critical eye on system performance and security.
5. Be able to compose and present comprehensive proposals during design tasks that outline options and assessments.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Ruby on Rails or any other MVC web service type framework
2. Javascript experience (React or Angular is plus but not required)
3. Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, etc)
4. Docker

We offer:
- You will be part of a stable product company (Canada, Vancouver).
- Long term cooperation (You will sign the contract directly with the Product company, we just help our partner to find the most suitable specialists)
- Product is in active phase of development, thus it's not about the support.
- Remote work
- Flexible working schedule, but taking into account the time zone you should be available from 19-22 Kyiv time to be able to synchronize at least a couple of hours with other teammates.
- 20 (working) business days day-offs
