This is an opportunity to join a fast-paced early-stage startup in which you will be given tremendous ownership and autonomy as we launch our first product.
What you’ll be doing:
Working with cross-functional teams to build mission-critical financial services web products. You will be building microservices, API’s, web applications, and infrastructure to support cross-border payments and related back-office operations. We’re looking for people who have a growth mindset and a history of building world-class web products
What you’ll need:
- Minimum 3 years of development of microservices
- Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot
- Proficiency with relational databases (ex PostgreSQL)
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes etc
- Experience in building cloud-native services using AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience in REST and/or GraphQL API development
- Strong grasp of unit testing principles and testing libraries
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work with others in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to self-organise and deliver high-quality work
Nice to have:
- Experience with blockchain and/or digital assets
- Experience building trading systems (ex FX) or cross-border payment systems
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (ex Terraform, Pulumi)

What You Will Be Doing:
- Collaborating with Leadership: Working closely with the CTO and the broader engineering team to support the design and build of cloud infrastructure for our payments platform.
- Automating Infrastructure: Automating the provisioning of AWS cloud environments with a view to improving scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This will involve provisioning infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Terragrunt.
- Building CI/CD Pipelines: Developing and managing robust continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline our deployment processes, ensuring fast, reliable, and automated application delivery.
- Monitoring & Reliability: Implementing effective health monitoring and alerting systems for the payments platform, ensuring systems are operational, performant, and resilient.
- System Reliability & Performance: Contributing to ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability and performance of our infrastructure, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and minimal downtime.
What You Will Need:
- Proven expertise: Minimum of 5 years experience in a DevOps role with strong hands-on experience with automating the provisioning of AWS infrastructure using tools like Terraform and Terragrunt.
- Containerisation & Orchestration: Strong hands-on experience with Docker for containerisation and Kubernetes for orchestrating containerised applications. Experience with AWS EKS advantageous.
- Messaging Systems: Knowledge and experience with messaging systems, such as Kafka, for building scalable, event-driven architectures.
- PostgreSQL Database Administration: Familiarity with Postgres database administration and best practices with respect to database:
- Scaling
- Migrations
- Performance optimisation
- Monitoring: Knowledge and experience of building monitoring dashboards and tooling for insight into the health of systems. Experience with tools such as Grafana, k6 etc will be advantageous
