Eleventy / Directus Developer for Static Site Migration

Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Eleventy Developer to lead the migration of our existing site’s markdown files into a new static site setup using Eleventy and Directus as the headless CMS. Directus is built entirely in TypeScript, primarily on Node.js and Vue.js, and we are also incorporating the DeepL plugin to handle ongoing translations and to support the addition of new languages. Proficiency in GraphQL and JavaScript is also required. A key goal for this project is to achieve a perfect 400 Lighthouse score for performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO, using tools like Speedlify.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the migration of all markdown content from the existing site to Eleventy.
• Set up and integrate Eleventy as the static site generator with Directus, which is built on TypeScript, Node.js, and Vue.js.
• Implement and configure the DeepL plugin on Directus to manage translations and add support for new languages.
• Optimize the new site for a perfect 400 Lighthouse score across performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO.
• Build efficient queries using GraphQL to interact with Directus and ensure seamless data management.
• Collaborate with the team to maintain design consistency and improve usability, ensuring smooth multilingual functionality.
• Implement and optimize JavaScript for interactive and dynamic elements while ensuring high performance.
• Troubleshoot any issues related to content migration, templating, multilingual support, GraphQL queries, or site performance.
   

Qualifications:

• Proven experience with Eleventy or similar static site generators.
• Strong experience with CMS platforms, ideally Directus, and integrating them with static site setups.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, Vue.js (as Directus is built on these technologies), GraphQL, and JavaScript.
• Experience with the DeepL plugin for Directus and a good understanding of handling translations and multilingual setups.
• Demonstrated ability to optimize websites for high Lighthouse scores.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Understanding of SEO best practices and performance optimization for static sites.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with markdown files, file organization, and templating systems.
   

Preferred:

• Familiarity with SEO tools and platforms is a plus.
• Experience with site migrations and multilingual content management best practices.
