Senior Backend Engineer (Blockchain) (offline)

OpenDelta is building the first Bitcoin-backed digital dollar, designed for seamless global value transfers. This dollar operates independently of traditional fiat banking systems, ensuring instant and trustless transactions. In addition to offering the stability of fiat currencies, this synthetic asset uniquely incorporates a built-in mechanism for yield generation, allowing its holders to earn passive income effortlessly.

In this role you will be creating and enhancing OpenDelta’s core trading and risk management systems. You’ll be working closely with our founding team and quantitative engineer to bring new products to market and solve complex problems.

This is a hands-on role where you will thrive on the unique technology challenges we face and see your ideas and hard work be used by businesses and individuals that seek dollar stability outside the traditional fiat banking system. A successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the business domain (trading, derivatives, and blockchain).

Project stack: Rust, Go, TypeScript, NextJS, ZMQ, PSQL, Docker, Terraform, TimeScaleDB
Team on the project: Backend Developer, Full Stack Developer, DevOps, Tech Lead/CTO

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of programming experience in a lower-level programming language, i.e. Rust, C++, or Go
• Experience running critical systems with high uptime levels
• Experience building distributed systems
• Familiarity with developing UNIX systems
• Understanding of basic DevOps operations
• Ability to work collaboratively in a distributed team environment
• Upper-intermediate English level

Nice-to-have:

• Interest in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies
• Experience working with relational and time series databases
• Interest in Security
• Experience building trading infrastructure or experience in a finance-related field (FX, HFT, Electronic Trading)
• Experience delivering real-time data over the web
• Experience building and working on cryptocurrency projects (bonus points for anything related to Bitcoin Core, Ethereum, or Solana)
• Experience running and managing cryptocurrency nodes for your own projects

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain components of the core trading and execution engines (order management, risk management, pricing, and settlement systems)
• Improving the performance and stability of the trading engine
• Designing low-latency, high-availability applications
• Writing a boatload of tests
