PROJECT
Our Customer is a German company which provides services for European banks and insurance companies. The company specializes on support of complex financial systems developed on classic technology stack for the industry (COBOL, mainframes). The Customer is also running migration projects aimed at migrating complex financial systems to modern technology stack (Java, Python).

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer expereinced in Java technology stack to join one of the migration projects. Since, the project is about migrating the solution from COBOL/mainframes to Java, it is expected that qualified candidate has basic knowledge about COBOL/mainframes and ability to read COBOL code.

Tech Stack (planned): Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST API, ORMs (PostgreSQL), Git

WE PROVIDE YOU WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCITING CHALLENGES

Analyze existing system developed on COBOL

Participate in creation of a technical vision of the solution, architecture and design

Develop new system using Java technology stack

Deliver high quality code and documentation

Identify areas for process improvement, propose and implement solutions, automation of processes

Use software development best practices, considering security and performance

Cooperate with Product Owner and Business Analysts on customer side and distributed development team

WE EXPECT FROM YOU

Degree (bachelor or master) in computer science or a comparable course of study

6+ years of software engineering experience with Java

Practical experience with message brokers and stream processing platforms

Experience with ORM / Data Access frameworks

Knowledge of unit testing techniques and frameworks

Experience of developing complex financial systems (domains: banking, insurance)

Ability to read/understand COBOL code

Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate to stakeholders on multiple levels

Action and quality-oriented

English: upper-intermediate / advanced

WOULD BE A PLUS

Experience of migration projects (COBOL to Java)

Experience with AI-driven COBOL code migration tools

German language at any level

Knowledge of COBOL
