About the Demand Side Management “Jedi” Team

An Agile scrum team develops and supports user-facing web products that help our customers fill in a survey for their home energy audit and understand their energy use categories, top used appliances, and always-on devices based on survey results and ML models. This helps customers understand what is used most and be both more energy efficient and save budget. We deliver deep, personalized home energy insights to end-users and help utilities build a clean energy future.

About You
You’ve got 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
You are an expert. All our Senior Engineers, including the managers, are experts in multiple technologies. You have a solid knowledge of the whole frontend tech stack.
You want to own it. You embrace the challenges inherent in being fully responsible for an essential part of UGBU’s business, from supporting your applications in production to continuously monitoring and evolving it based on performance metrics.
You live the process. You know that you can’t be successful without bringing order to chaos. Scrum, issue tracking, source code management, and continuous integration are all second nature to you. And, you know that too much can be worse than too little.
You’re agile (and not just in the buzzword sense). You know how to succeed in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and wouldn’t have it any other way.
You love to be responsible for a critical portion of the codebase, from design through support.

What we’re searching for:
You have a BS/MS degree in computer science or another related technical field.
You are an expert and deep knowledge of JavaScript as a first-class language. We are actively developing with React/Redux.
An expert in SCSS/Sass and HTML. Experience with MJML or in developing complex email layouts and performing cross-platform testing and optimizations would be a big plus.
You are a strong team player and collaborator who evaluates the technical tradeoffs of every decision.
Have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, including a sufficient level of English.
You will participate in Code Reviews, ensure exceptional code quality, and document everything he does from design documents through the documentation for multiple stakeholders: delivery teams, configuration analysts, PMs.
Be proficient in writing unit & browser tests as part of your coding process. We use Ava and Karma, Loki, rely on BrowserStack, use Jenkins as our CI system.
Mentor less experienced engineers via code reviews, knowledge sharing, design assistance, pairing & direct mentorship.
Experience with Node.js or Java would be a plus.
