Product Designer

Goal
The goal of a product designer is to craft products that companies value, users love and make retail experiences better and communicate those designs to teams so they can be understood and created.

Purpose
Design is the intent and communication of that intent to others. A product designers purpose is to design the intent of a product (holistically, its look, feel and technical function) so that others can understand the products.

Duties and Responsibilities
Here are some of the areas that the Product Designer is responsible for:
β€’ Product Design:
- Craft visual design with understanding of technical limits, desire of clients and needs of business.
- Translate concepts into user flows, and mockups.
- Create intuitive user experiences.
- Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
- Considering the complete design system their work lives within.
- Help clarify business requirements.

β€’ Client Communication & Team Collaborate:
- Be the primary source which QA, development, PM and businesses will come to for understanding about how product feature should and will work.
- Write design specs which communicates product intention to customer, engineering and QA teams.
- Be a key part of the team expanding the product to more international locations.

β€’ Product Design Technical Documentation:
- Create technical design docs that explain the function of the design, how product should work, what happens when there are errors and edge cases and how the software may work differently depending on settings or the state of the software.
- Work on a variety of product features at once.

Summary
The product designer works with business, development QA, customers and users to understand the problems facing businesses and/or users and solve them in the software and how it is designed. A product designer thinks beyond the output of their design, to how their design is interrupted and ultimately how others experience the product that is designed.
The product designer is then responsibility to create highly detailed product documents which engineering and QA can use to build the software. In this process the product designer also becomes the primary source for how software should work.

Plus for experience in:
β€’ Writing software requirements, working with business and software teams to understand technical limits.
β€’ Designing enterprise mobile apps.
β€’ Designing software that is used in both business and consumer environments.
β€’ Designing software which is context depending (state and settings change how software functions) β€’ Experience using Figma and/or sketch
β€’ Has experience designing iOS apps.
β€’ Has worked as a product manager or in QA for a tech company *Lead, Senior, Standard, Junior levels denote levels of ownership of a products features, lifecycle cycle and scale.
