Front-end Engineer (offline)

Project description

Our client, Maxeda, is the big Dutch retail group that owns and operates building materials stores across the Benelux (7000 employees, 400 offline stores, 65000 products online)

Our Kyiv-based team is working on core Maxeda's products built on microservices architecture (40+ services):

- eCommerce platforms for both Netherlands and Belgium markets
- the content/community management platform

As a Front-end Engineer you will deal with:

- front-end side of both community management and eCommerce platforms
- creation of a new admin panel based on React/Node.js
- product service and product-related services

Infrastructure: AWS + Docker

CI/CD: Bamboo + Bitbucket Pipelines + LaunchDarkly feature toggles (flags)

Configuration management & provisioning: Ansible + Terraform

Required skills

- Deep expertise in React, Redux, Node.js, ES6, and Express
- Hands-on experience of tests writing on Jest
- Proficient understanding of web markup (HTML5/CSS3)
- Understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS/SASS
- Practical experience in the creation of highly adaptive cross-browser layouts
- Experience with modern build tools (Webpack, Babel)
- At least strong Intermediate English proficiency with good communication skills

As a plus

- Hands-on experience with a microservices architecture
- Theoretical knowledge or/and experience with CSS-in-JS approach
- A good understanding of the Agile software development approach and eagerness to follow it
- Theoretical knowledge of infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Databases)
- Hands-on experience with Atlassian stack (Bamboo, Bitbucket, Jira)

Responsibilities

- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external development & infrastructure teams from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Odessa
- Create an architectural design to illustrate high-level solutions to an application and feature requests
- To be responsible for the FE stack and the improvement and realization of a microservices’ front-end and rendering layer architecture
- Deliver high-quality, testable and maintainable code as well as review code written by others
- Deploy applications on AWS servers using automation services (Bamboo)
- Convert insights into future improvements
