Universium is a digital product company based in Seattle (WA) 🌲, Boca Raton (FL) 🌴, and Kyiv (UA) πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦. We specialize in building and scaling exceptional technical teams, and focus on building digital products that shape our tomorrow. Our team is fully remote, and consists of 25 engineers, designers, project managers, and researchers (and counting).

 

Founded in 2016, we've been fortunate to partner with 50+ startups and enterprise clients to build internal products and flagship applications. The products we built are actively used at Pfizer, Uber, Cisco, IHG, and even several U.S. universities.     We're looking for an expert full-stack React/Node.js engineer with experience in building AI tools to join our growing team! We're working on a product that has already made an impact in a major U.S. industry and has gained traction with several Fortune 500 companies. We're a small yet powerful team, but considering recent growth - expect plenty of opportunities of growth and a chance to tackle interesting engineering challenges!

     

    What skills we expect you to have: 🎯

     

    • English: Advanced (B2+)
    • B.Sc. in Computer Science or similar;
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and analytical skills;
    • 5+ years of writing commercial React.js and Node.js apps;
    • Extensive experience with SQL-based databases;
    • Extensive experience with Amazon Web Services;
    • Understanding of LLMs and their application to building web applications;

     

    What would be a huge plus: ✨

     

    • English: C1
    • Background in building your own side projects (please share links);
    • Experience of leading engineering teams or initiatives at your previous company;
    • Experience in building CI/CD pipelines;
    • You have experience building AI apps (LangChain / LlamaIndex) and with MLOps;

    We are looking for a junior backend developer to help automate the collection of publicly available information from the internet. You will build Node.js automation services using Playwright/Puppeteer and improve their reliability over time. This is an internal product at our team and is not an outsourcing or outstaffing-type contract.

     

    What you’ll do: πŸ’Ό

     

    - Implement browser automation (Playwright/Puppeteer) to gather public information;

    - Build small Node.js services/scripts to schedule and run automation jobs;

    - Parse and normalize extracted data into structured formats;

    - Add reliability features: retries, timeouts, concurrency limits, logging;

    - Participate in code reviews and keep documentation up to date;

     

    Requirements: 🎯

     

    - Basic Node.js backend experience (async/await, REST, error handling);

    - Practical Playwright or Puppeteer experience (selectors, navigation, waits);

    - Git and basic development workflow (branches, PRs);

    - English level B1+ (reading docs + working communication);

     

    Nice to have: 🀩

     

    - PostgreSQL experience (tables, simple queries);

    - AWS basics, especially SQS (queues, consumers, retries/DLQ concepts);

    - Docker basics;
