The Automation Developer is responsible for implementing and documenting intelligent automation workflows and multi-agent systems within the larger context of client requirements and technical specifications. You will be responsible for architecting and implementing agentic workflows, LLM integrations, and coordinated multi-agent systems during the project's production phase, including architecture adjustments based on evolving requirements and assisting in team oversight and code review.

This is a full-time, remote, and ongoing position (40 hours per week). You will be expected to be available to attend daily stand-ups, coordinate with a distributed multidisciplinary team, and complete all automation deliverables on time and to specification. While this is a remote work contract, you must have at least 4 hours overlap with the Studio time, 9 am to 5 pm PST.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design and implement intelligent automation workflows using n8n and custom Python solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing client systems.
• Develop multi-agent systems that can coordinate tasks, share information, and make autonomous decisions based on defined parameters.
• Integrate Large Language Models through APIs, implementing robust prompt engineering strategies and managing model interactions within automated workflows.
• Build and maintain agentic workflows that can adapt to changing conditions and requirements through intelligent decision-making processes.
• Clear English communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to explain complex automation concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Integrate automation solutions with backend services and third-party APIs to create comprehensive workflow ecosystems.
• Have informed opinions on automation architecture patterns, agent communication protocols, and be able to explain them to others.
• Adapt to solve problems across the full automation stack, from data ingestion to intelligent decision-making, to ensure project success. Must have curiosity and drive to stay current with emerging AI and automation technologies.
• Assist other developers through peer review and quality assurance of automation code and agent configurations.
• As required, attend team meetings, including project kick-offs, stand-ups, and client demonstrations of automation capabilities.
• Utilize and contribute to the company-wide automation framework and agent libraries.

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong proficiency in Python with focus on automation frameworks, async programming, and API integrations.
• Deep understanding of workflow orchestration principles and hands-on experience with n8n or similar platforms.
• Experience with LangChain framework for building LLM-powered applications and multi-step reasoning chains.
• Proven experience integrating OpenAI APIs and other LLM services into production automation systems.
• Understanding of multi-agent system architectures, including agent communication, task coordination, and distributed decision-making.
• Strong prompt engineering skills with ability to design, test, and optimize prompts for various automation scenarios.
• Experience with networking concepts including API design, webhooks, and real-time communication protocols.
• Familiarity with deployment strategies for automation systems and cloud infrastructure management.
• Strong debugging skills for complex automation workflows, including ability to trace issues across multiple agents and systems.
• Ability to rapidly prototype and implement clean, maintainable automation code from client specifications, with communication skills to clarify ambiguous requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to document automation processes and explain AI-driven decisions to diverse audiences.
• Must be detail-oriented, quality-driven, systematic in approach, self-motivated, and proactive in identifying automation opportunities.
• Able to work independently on complex automation challenges while managing multiple concurrent workflows and deadlines.
• Open to constructive feedback and collaborative improvement of automation systems.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and experience with project management tools such as JIRA or Monday.
• Proven history working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including business analysts, data scientists, and client stakeholders to deliver intelligent automation solutions.

Work Environment

Robot Sea Monster is a fully remote company with team members across the globe. We expect you to provide the appropriate computer, peripherals, and software for this position and the high-speed internet, mic, and camera required for video conferencing and voice calls. Robot Sea Monster will provide access to all team systems and any proprietary automation frameworks or AI tools needed for projects.

You must be available via Google Meet, Slack, and email during designated work hours. Additional hours may be required when we need to meet project deadlines and for periodic client demonstrations of automation systems. Hours will fluctuate based on the number of projects, project complexity, and automation deployment timelines.
