Permanent location in the EU or Ukraine is required (we can only consider candidates legally based in the EU or Ukraine).
Join SΓΆderberg & Partners Heartpace AB, a Swedish product company building reliable, high-quality software for the European market. Weβre looking for a QA Engineer (Manual + Automation) who enjoys moving fast, taking real ownership, and raising the quality bar through smart testing and scalable automation.
Weβre not looking for someone to βrun checklists.β Weβre looking for someone who can build confidence in releases, ship quickly with integrity, and help us automate QA and workflows using AI.
What we offer
- Flexibility: work fully remote.
- Career growth: clear development paths, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.
- Modern tools & processes: Playwright, Postman, TestRail, Jira, Confluence (and room to improve them).
- Professional development: we cover certifications, conferences, and access to Udemy.
- AI-first enablement: we actively automate workflows with AI β and weβll compensate relevant AI subscriptions you need for your work.
- Relocation support: visa sponsorship and relocation assistance for international candidates.
- Work-life balance: no overtime culture and generous vacation policies.
- Security matters: we are ISO 27001:2022 certified, meaning we take information security and operational discipline seriously.
What youβll do
- Own the QA process for web-based applications: from requirements to release confidence.
- Design and maintain test plans, checklists, and test cases in TestRail.
- Perform manual testing (exploratory, regression, acceptance) with strong attention to risk and impact.
- Build, extend, and maintain automation from scratch (Playwright preferred), including:
- stable test architecture
- meaningful reporting
- CI-friendly execution
- reliable, maintainable suites
- Conduct API testing using Postman (and support API test automation where applicable).
- Identify, log, and track defects in Jira, with high-quality reproduction steps and clear severity/priority.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and designers to clarify requirements and ensure test coverage.
- Improve QA processes across the SDLC: faster feedback loops, fewer flaky tests, better release confidence.
- Use AI tools to accelerate test design, reduce repetitive work, and improve efficiency (while keeping quality and security intact).
We value
- High performance / results-first: measurable impact over activity.
- Entrepreneurial ownership: be the engine, not the passenger.
- Data-driven decisions + systems thinking: rigor, scalability, and continuous learning.
- Fast execution with integrity: speed and reliability.
- Continuous improvement: skills, mindset, and outcomes.
Youβll thrive here if youβ¦
- Prefer short cycles: ship β measure β iterate.
- Can turn ambiguity into execution (and help others do the same).
- Care about outcomes over process theater.
- Enjoy improving systems, not just following them.
What weβre looking for
- 5+ years of experience in manual and automation QA for web applications.
- Strong hands-on automation experience, ideally Playwright (or similar modern framework).
- Experience setting up automation approaches/frameworks and building maintainable suites.
- Solid knowledge of Postman, TestRail, Jira, and Confluence.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and quality practices in modern product teams.
- Understanding of client-server architecture.
- Good web fundamentals: HTML, CSS, HTTP, Ajax, JSON.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear communication.
- English: Upper-Intermediate+ for collaboration and documentation.
- Language bonus:
- Swedish is a strong plus (conversational/professional level or native).
- Ukrainian/Russian is a plus for smoother communication with part of the team from Odessa, Ukraine.
- AI usage experience: practical experience using AI tools to automate or accelerate QA/workflows (weβll support and compensate relevant subscriptions).
Interview process (3 steps)
- Screening interview with the Recruiter.
- Technical interview with the Tech Lead + live task.
- Final approval interview with the CTO.
Why join us?
At SΓΆderberg & Partners Heartpace AB, quality is not a gate at the end - itβs a system we build. Youβll have real ownership, autonomy, and support, plus the opportunity to improve how we ship through automation, AI, and strong engineering collaboration.

- Experience designing black-box/gray-box tests for infrastructure and configuration correctness, ideally in a GitOps / Infrastructure-as-Code setup (Terraform, Git repositories as the source of truth).
- Comfortable using observability platforms (New Relic, OpenTelemetry, or similar) to monitor latency, error rates, saturation, and dependencies as part of validation and troubleshooting.
- Solid QA fundamentals: risk-based testing, regression/system testing, integration testing, and exploratory testing, ideally in a safety- or compliance-critical domain (e.g., medical devices, FinTech).
- Strong communication: ability to explain complex systems clearly, lead discussions on release risk, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Experience validating Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like Terratest or equivalent custom test frameworks to verify Terraform modules, networking, RBAC, and critical resources.
- Familiarity with GitOps tooling and workflows such as Argo CD, Helmfile/Helm charts, and Git-based environment promotion.
- Experience designing and running performance, load, or stress tests (e.g., JMeter, k6, Gatling) and interpreting results to drive scaling and optimization decisions.
- Background or exposure to SRE/DevSecOps practices (SLIs/SLOs, reliability and security checks in pipelines), and observability in service meshes (Istio/Linkerd) or with Cilium/eBPF.
- Prior experience in medical/HealthTech products or other regulated industries, understanding compliance, audit trails, and validation expectations.
Job Responsibilities
As a Senior Infrastructure-aware QA Automation Specialist, you will design and implement automated tests for APIs, backend services, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring correctness across environments and CI/CD pipelines for medical software and connected devices. You will collaborate closely with Developers, SRE/DevOps, and Product to use IaC, GitOps, and observability platforms (e.g., New Relic) to validate system health, scalability, and reliability before and after releases.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites for APIs, backend services, and infrastructure/configuration correctness in AWS and Kubernetes-based environments.
- Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab/Jenkins) as risk-based quality gates, defining stages, thresholds, and actions on failure in collaboration with Dev and SRE teams.
- Validate infrastructure and environments across Dev/QA/Prod-like stages using Terraform/IaC definitions, Kubernetes resources, and configuration checks, preventing config-to-resource mismatches.
- Use observability tools (New Relic, OpenTelemetry-based stacks, or similar) to define key signals, validate releases, investigate incidents, and distinguish between application, infra, and environment noise.
Contribute to performance and scalability testing (e.g., JMeter or similar), helping design scenarios, interpret metrics, and influence scaling and capacity decisions.
Department/Project Description
Our client is an innovative manufacturer of medical devices in the United States, producing devices and software applications.
In this project, you will have a great opportunity to be involved in the full development life cycle of medical software, which is designed to assist individuals by processing information from medical devices to identify health trends and track daily activities. In addition, there are opportunities to work with medical devices, in the scope of end-to-end testing.
