Amplifier AI is building a surgical planning 
platform powered by our own imaging, 
segmentation and 3-D measurement engine. 
We are a small team of engineers, radiologists 
and data scientists from Ukraine and across 
Europe. You would join the team developing the 
internal Python engine behind 3-D 
reconstruction and measurement for CT-based 
workflows.

Read this before you apply

We hire for reasoning about 3-D space, not 
for a title. The code itself is ordinary clean 
Python — the hard part is everything the 
geometry touches:
Voxel space vs. physical space, and every 
transform between them
Origin, spacing and direction — consistent 
across scanners, series and vendors
Real hospital data: incomplete series, odd 
orientations, inconsistent metadata
Geometric edge cases — surfaces that self-
intersect, clips that miss, distances that are 
"almost" right
Reproducibility: the same input must give the 
same number, today and in six months
If you can explain why a model is offset, 
mirrored or at the wrong scale — not just that it 
looks wrong — you will do well here.
Because the output feeds real surgical planning,
correctness is not negotiable. A wrong 
millimetre is a clinical problem, not a bug report.
This role is probably not for you if you want 
fully predefined tickets, a fixed roadmap, or to 
implement tasks without understanding the 
domain. Hospitals and real clinical data change 
priorities; we adjust as a team.

What We're Looking For

Python engineering (the core of this role)
- Clean, modular, strictly typed Python. We run 
mypy --strict, ruff, pytest, pre-
commit — and deep, technical code reviews.

- Confident with NumPy / SciPy and array-
heavy numerical code.

- Ability to own a feature end-to-end: from 
understanding the clinical problem to 
validating the result on real data.

3-D medical imaging fundamentals
-Understanding of origin, spacing and 
direction, and the difference between voxel 
and physical coordinates.

-Reading DICOM series correctly, validating 
RAS orientation, resampling without silently 
corrupting geometry.

-Comfort debugging complex geometric 
problems: distance, intersection, clipping, 
surface generation from labels.

Toolchain
-SimpleITK, VTK or PyTorch experience is a 
strong plus. If you haven't used them, you 
must be genuinely comfortable diving deep 
and learning independently — we mentor, but 
initiative is expected.
-Docker, Git, GitHub Actions, structured 
logging.

- DICOM & SimpleITK: read series correctly, 
validate RAS origins and directions, resample 
safely, maintain voxel ↔ physical transforms.
- VTK & geometry: generate surfaces from 
labels; implement distance, intersection and 
clipping algorithms; export reliable STL 
markers and geometry artifacts.
- Measurement & QA logic: build robust 
procedural tools for radiologists and handle 
the edge cases real hospital data produces.
- Pipeline reliability: performance tuning, 
structured logging, and making sure 
pipelines survive messy multi-scanner 
datasets.

Example challenges
- Build a robust distance-measurement tool 
between anatomical segmentations, with 
exportable nearest-point markers.
- Extract centerlines and anatomical landmarks
from noisy CT scans.
- Enforce consistent spacing / origin / direction 
across multi-scanner datasets.

We're looking for a Lead Python Engineer who will be the key developer on the team - someone who has already designed architecture, not just built against someone else's.

If an e-commerce site goes down, it's inconvenient. This product has to run without failure: if a software glitch shuts down a 50 MW plant, that means direct financial losses and safety risks. Your code moves megawatts, not pixels or shopping carts.

About the role

We are looking for a Middle Systems / Software Engineer to work on the performance-critical core of a real-time Computer Vision platform.

This is not a typical Python Backend role. The main challenge is building and optimising the systems underneath the CV/ML engines — where performance depends on memory, processes, concurrency, data movement, CPU/GPU utilisation and low latency.

You will work on the runtime that executes CV pipelines as a graph of processing stages, with latency measured in milliseconds. You will deal with shared memory, zero-copy data transfer, inter-process communication and process orchestration.

What matters most to us

We are open to engineers coming from C++, Python, Go or similar backgrounds.

The programming language itself is not the main selection criterion. What matters much more is a strong systems engineering mindset and experience understanding what is happening inside a system.

For example, we are particularly interested in engineers who have worked with problems such as:

• reducing unnecessary memory copies;
• optimising CPU/GPU utilisation;
• investigating latency spikes and performance bottlenecks;
• working with processes, threads and concurrency;
• debugging race conditions and difficult low-level issues;
• profiling applications and identifying bottlenecks;
• designing efficient data-processing pipelines;
• working with large amounts of data moving through several processing stages;

• optimising algorithms or runtimes for performance.

   

A candidate does not necessarily need to have worked with exactly the same technologies before.

• Collaborate with CV/ML engineers to turn model inference code into reliable production pipeline stages.
• Develop and optimise the core Pipeline Engine — an in-process, real-time runtime executing the CV pipeline as a graph of stages.
• Work with zero-copy shared-memory pools for passing frames between processes.
• Develop and optimise low-latency ZeroMQ communication for control messages, metadata and synchronisation.

We are looking for a senior backend engineer to build a high-performance service for streaming large datasets.

This is not a conventional CRUD backend role. You will work on persistent HTTP/3 connections, asynchronous I/O, object-storage range reads, binary data transfer, authentication, request scheduling, etc.

What you will do

• Design and build the data-streaming service in Python.
• Implement HTTP/3 and QUIC-based client-server communication.
• Integrate with S3-compatible object storage.
• Build request prioritisation, cancellation, retries, caching, and backpressure.
• Implement token-based authentication and fine-grained access control.
• Integrate Python services with native libraries and binary data formats.
• Add metrics, tracing, load testing, and failure recovery.
• Work closely with desktop visualisation and Python/ML client teams.
• Benchmark streaming performance against download-first workflows.

What we are looking for

• Strong production experience with Python.
• Experience with asynchronous Python, task scheduling, and concurrent I/O.
• Experience building high-throughput or low-latency backend systems.
• Good understanding of networking, HTTP, TLS, and binary protocols.
• Practical knowledge of S3, MinIO, Ceph, or similar object storage.
• Experience with streaming I/O, byte-range reads, caching, and memory management.
• Strong performance-profiling and debugging skills.
• Ability to design stable interfaces between independently developed systems.

Nice to have

• Production experience with C++. 
• Experience with HTTP/3, QUIC, WebTransport, or high-performance RPC.
• Background in distributed storage, CDNs, databases, filesystems, or media streaming.
• Familiarity with scientific visualisation, HPC, simulation, or large multidimensional datasets.
• Experience with CUDA or GPU data pipelines.
• Experience with OAuth, OIDC, JWT, and capability-based access.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and OpenTelemetry.
