Job Description
1) Knowledge\Experience with support of Linux based operating systems.
- how the system works (systemctl, journalctl)
- main networking tools (ifconfig, netstat, iptables)
- how to work with a file system (fsck, fstab, mount, lsblk)
- how to identify and troubleshoot performance issues on the system
- basic bash scripting (while, for, sed, awk, timeout, printf)
2) Experience with support of networking environment.
- have experience with tcpdump and wireshark
- know OSI model with a detailed description of each layer
- have DHCP understanding (messaging, relays, optional fields)
- know on the basic level main routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)
- have an understanding of how packets/frames traverse the network (MAC tables, ARP, encapsulation/decapsulation)
- have a basic understanding of IGMP + PIM
3) Experience in customer support/product support activities:
- good written English (chat, email, JIRA)
- deep cooperation with the R&D department
- reasonable spoken English
Would be a plus:
- Experience with Jira / Confluence
- Black-Box testing
- Knowledge\Experience in Bash\Shell.
Job Responsibilities
- Be responsible for providing technical support (mostly tier 1, but some tier 2 as well) in assigned product areas to MultiTech customers with diagnosing, troubleshooting, and debugging complex system problems involving MultiTech's equipment;
- Work closely with SW Engineering and QA for escalated issues.

Our client US-based company that is the leader in M2M communications and Industrial IoT.
The client produces network equipment that works in Factories, Healthcare, Agriculture and other businesses.
Client’s communication units talks to each other by different means that include common ways like 3G, 4G/LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BLE, Ethernet; and exotic ones like LoRaWAN, GPIO, Modbus, etc.
As they are industrial devices, they are highly protected by different security layers, that include kernel and resources monitoring, logging, notification and alerts, variety for certificates and ciphers protection.
The communication unit’s platform is based on Linux (Ubuntu), and programmed used C\C++ mainly. However, it is not a homogeneous environment. There are areas of the system programmed on Python and JavaScript.
