Technical writer (offline)

Mirantis delivers open cloud infrastructure to top enterprises using OpenStack, Kubernetes and related open source technologies. The company is a major contributor of code to many open infrastructure projects and follows a build-operate-transfer model to deliver its Mirantis Cloud Platform and cloud management services, empowering customers to take advantage of open source innovation with no vendor lock-in.
We are looking for a highly qualified and passionate technical writer who will create documentation for technical users who install, configure, and manage complex software in Kubernetes and OpenStack cloud deployments. Documentation consists of reference architectures, deployment and management guides, release notes, API documentation, technical papers, and knowledge-base articles. Technical Writer will edit existing product documentation and create additional documentation from scratch. Must be able to understand complex technical issues, as well as translate them into easily understandable prose. This challenging task is going to be undertaken in tight cooperation with teams and technical experts, developing Openstack and Kubernetes, QA and deployment engineers from all over the world.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with software developers, product managers, writers, information architects, quality assurance engineers, and technical support engineers to develop documentation
Work individually and on a team, read design documents and specifications, and use pre-release software
Follow the accepted documentation styles, accomplish planned tasks, and meet schedules
Update documentation for minor software releases and create manuals from scratch for major releases

Required Qualifications:
Degree, preferably in Engineering, English, or a related field.
2+ years of experience writing software documentation for a technical audience.
Excellent English skills in written communications (grammar, syntax, and punctuation) (samples will be requested at interview stage).
Excellent English verbal communication skills.
Ability to organize information, learn complex technologies, and explain concepts and instructions clearly and concisely.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience with ReStructured Text syntax and Sphinx.
Experience writing virtualization and cloud management documentation.
Experience working in Linux, Python, and Version control systems (ie, Git).
