We are looking for Lead Backend Javascript developer who wants to change the world of transportation together with the MaaS Global team.
Our product is the app called Whim β the largest serverless-framework powered project in production in the Nordics. Now our journey will kick into second gear; global scaling, harnessing real time data, Machine Learning, new modes like e-scooters and car sharing, and many more challenges await.
Required skills
β 3 or more years of experience in writing NodeJS-based backend services
β 5+ years of experience in the IT field
β Technical/Team leadership experience
β Working knowledge of AWS managed services such as Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, DynamoDB
and expressing these in CloudFormation
β Working knowledge with tools such as Webpack, Jest, Travis/Circle CI
β Good communication skills in English and proactive attitude to working with external partners
β Keeping up to date with the latest in the development space with side projects, Github
contributions and following the wider Javascript or Typescript ecosystem.
As a plus
β Writing serverless web apps e.g. with NextJS, NuxtJS, Netlify
β Experience in mobility services; e.g. routing, maps or transit ticketing, PostGIS
β Some experience with frontend technologies such as React and Vue
β Self-organising work according to e.g. Kanban style of development

Responsibilities
Main focus of the role is in backend integrations to service providers such as public transit authorities, car rentals, travel agencies etc, but may also entail working with end-to-end features cutting across the stack to the front-end.
Typical tasks include writing Serverless services that interface with external REST-style APIs to book travel services on behalf of users, and integrating those services to the Whim back-end. In addition, tasks may include creating new functionalities within Whim service, such as payment, routing, analytics, machine learning algorithms, according to individual skills and desire to learn new things.
