NewArc

Senior Product Designer (Web)

$$$$

First design hire at NewArc. Own how every screen looks and feels โ€” fluent in both Figma (or similar) and the web platform we ship.

1. Requirements and nice-to-haves

Hard requirements

  • Senior product / UI / UX design skill. 5+ years of experience. You can take a feature from a kick-off discussion to a complete, ready-to-build design โ€” every screen, every transition, every empty / loading / error state โ€” and make the calls on what it looks like, how it feels, where everything goes.
  • Web-platform fluency. You read and compose HTML and CSS (we use Tailwind) without help. You are comfortable in a real codebase โ€” opening files, editing JSX or templates, running a dev server, seeing your change in the browser. You do not need to be an engineer; you need to be a designer who lives in the div-and-tag layer rather than in Figma alone.
  • Evidence of prior shipped product work. We want to see features that real users use, with you describing your role in shipping them โ€” not Figma case-study mock-ups, not concept reels.
  • Strong written and spoken English. The team works in English end-to-end.
  • Time zone overlap. At least four hours of daily working-time overlap with London.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency with AI-assisted coding tools. Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Lovable, v0, Bolt, or similar.
  • A public footprint in the design-engineer orbit. Public contributions, a browsable interactive portfolio, etc. We notice this.
  • Experience shipping inside a small team where everyone wears multiple hats.
  • Background in, or genuine interest in, the fashion industry. Apparel, footwear, accessories, eyewear โ€” the brand, e-commerce, or marketplace side. Most of the customers we ship for live in this world.
  • Some marketing-adjacent skill. Landing pages, brand surfaces, conversion writing. We are small enough that wearing a marketing hat occasionally is a real plus, but a great product designer who is mostly incompetent at marketing is fine too.
  • Product management. Thinking about the backlog systematically based on strategic direction, customer feedback, and continuously calibrated gut feeling.

2. About the company

Founded in 2022, NewArc empowers thousands of product/apparel/footwear/accessories designers across industries with cutting-edge AI so they can ship fantastic products faster and cheaper. We work with individual designers as well as the largest companies in the fashion industry.

Internally, we are just a small group of folks enjoying their craft. We are all professional and hands-on. We also play vibe-coded Bomberman at daily stand-ups.

We enjoy deep work, lean processes, and having fun.

We don't live at work. We do our very best within work hours and move on to living the rest of our lives.

3. What we offer

  • Competitive salary. Full-time employment. Remote.
  • Direct work with the two co-founders and the product team. The team is small and high-trust. We try to keep process out of our way as much as possible. Discuss, ship, iterate, repeat. No middle management โ€” everybody is hands-on.
  • Role evolution. We are AI-first in ways that are actually productive. AI has already been reshaping every role on the team. A year from now, the Product Designer role will mean something different from what it means today. We will help you stay on the edge of that transition.
  • Growth. You are our first hire in Design. As we grow, you will naturally have opportunities to broaden your area of responsibility towards leadership or product ownership.
  • Immediate connection. What you design in the morning might be used by thousands of people in the evening. There's no one standing between you and the product.

Selection process

  1. Screening call โ€” 30 minutes.
  2. Technical call โ€” around two hours.
  3. Founder call โ€” up to an hour.
  4. Paid work trial โ€” multi-day, on a real upcoming feature, against the live repo. Simulating the real work as much as possible.
  5. Final decision
