Middle WordPress Full-Stack Developer

Growica builds a WordPress media network in the iGaming industry - projects used by hundreds of thousands of people every month. 

You won't only be maintaining WordPress sites and plugins. You'll be building scalable internal tools that directly amplify the SEO team from automating repetitive workflows to full internal products. iGaming SEO is dynamic and unpredictable, so we need someone who can proactively step in when priorities shift without waiting to be asked.

We're looking for a developer who thinks ahead: uses AI as a daily instrument and continuously looks for new ways to apply it where it creates real impact, covers code with tests, adapts to changing requirements, and finds solutions that account for the business context not just the technical one.

WordPress & backend

Confident work with PHP 8 OOP and WordPress core: hooks, filters, custom post types, REST API, WP-CLI. Building and maintaining custom themes and plugins from scratch, not configuring existing ones. ACF, WordPress Multisite, XML-RPC. MySQL query writing and optimization. Linux basics at a confident user level: nginx/apache, cron, shell. Git with a pull request flow and meaningful commit history.

AI-augmented development

Working with AI coding assistants (Claude, Copilot, Cursor or equivalents) is a key part of how we work, not a bonus. The developer's role includes formulating tasks with clear constraints, providing the agent with relevant context, and reviewing every diff before it enters the codebase. Catching typical AI-code issues — unnecessary abstractions, swallowed errors, hallucinated APIs — is expected as a baseline skill. Architectural decisions, security-sensitive code, and database schema changes remain the human's responsibility, not the agent's. The developer must be able to explain and defend every line at review, regardless of who wrote it.

Testing

We expect an understanding of testing levels and their purpose: unit tests for isolated functions and business logic, integration tests for plugin behavior and API boundaries, functional tests on system behavior through external interfaces. In AI-augmented development, tests are the primary tool for controlling the result the agent produces. Writing testable code by default, not as an afterthought, is a requirement.

Task execution

We expect the developer to take a task and drive its full cycle independently: clarify the requirement, design the solution, decompose into iterations, implement, ship, and confirm the feature works in production. No verbal specifications — first we align on the requirement and update the document, then we plan, then we code.

Requirements

• 2+ years of commercial WordPress development
• PHP 8 OOP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript ES6+
• Custom themes and plugins built from scratch
• ACF, CPT, REST API, WP-CLI
• Site performance, SEO, and security fundamentals
• PHPUnit or equivalent - writing tests is not optional
• Active use of AI coding assistants in daily work
• Git, pull request workflow, code review
• English at Intermediate / B1 level or above (reading and writing)

• iGaming or affiliate project experience
