Python AI/ML Engineer

About the project

We're building a smart customer behavior analytics platform for an e-commerce / retail business. A starter project is already done — we need an experienced developer to continue and expand it with new AI-powered video analytics features. Long-term engagement, 3+ months, with continuation after successful milestones.
 

What you'll be working on

• Face recognition & detection — identify returning customers
• Emotion detection — happy, neutral, surprised, confused, dissatisfied
• Age estimation & gender detection
• Object detection & tracking — products, shelves, zones, promotional areas
• Real-time / near-real-time video processing
• Detection overlays and analytics dashboard
• Customer emotion trends, demographic summaries, interaction heatmaps
• Camera input and/or uploaded video support
• Code review and improvement of existing codebase
   

Required skills

• Python, OpenCV
• YOLO (v8 preferred), DeepFace, InsightFace, and/or MediaPipe
• Face recognition and emotion detection in production
• Real-time video streaming (WebSockets / RTSP)
• Backend API development (FastAPI or Flask)
• Frontend integration — dashboards with live overlays
• Docker, GPU inference

Nice to have

• TensorRT / Triton for inference optimization
• Experience with retail or surveillance analytics systems
• Dashboard development (React or similar)
