Big Data Software Engineer (offline)

Majority of work is a migration of Tick History application to AWS.

Customer is a historical market data service, offering global intra-day Time and Sales, Quotes, and Market Depth content dating back to January 1996 for an extensive range of equities, indices, foreign exchange, money, fixed income, and derivatives instruments. Designed for customers requiring content to back-test automated and programmatic (algorithmic) trading models and perform historical quantitative research, as well as clients with compliance or transaction cost analysis needs.

Team setup: 3 scrum teams in Ukraine, 10 FTE each including 1 scrum master / PM, 1 architect, 1 BA, 2 automation QAs, 4 backend devs (1 should have big data experience with spark; Java and AWS are mandatory for all), 1 Dev lead.

Locations in Ukraine: Kyiv (2 teams), Vinnytsya

High-level scope description

- technical migration of the existing solution based on Hadoop to the strategic platform storing and processing the same data to AWS cloud;

- implement a set of postponed extensions and non-functional improvements (like performance) in the strategic solution;

- new solution should be developed from scratch, EPAM team covers its development end-to-end starting with the requirements collection, ending with Production deployment and post-deployment support and remediation.
