Senior Finance Controller

We are looking for a Finance Controller to take full ownership of our financial operations from day one. This is a hands-on role where you will build the function from scratch—setting up systems, owning processes, and executing the work yourself before any team is in place. If you prefer delegating before building foundations, this role is not the right fit.

We operate across multiple entities and currencies with significant transaction volume, requiring a high standard of accuracy, speed, and financial discipline. This role is critical to our growth, and we need someone who treats it as such.

As we scale, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a finance team—but first, you need to prove you can own and run the function independently.

Requirements 

• 5+ years in a finance controller, senior finance, or equivalent hands-on role
• Experience managing finances across multiple legal entities and currencies
• Strong command of US finance, USD operations, and international payments
• Proven ability to own a P&L and produce accurate, decision-ready reporting
• Experience managing credit cards, payment providers, and financial services relationships
• Hands-on operator. You do the work yourself, you do not just oversee others doing it.
• Extremely detail-oriented with a zero-mistakes standard
• Proactive about cost optimisation, not just cost tracking
• Strong English, written and verbal (C1 or above)

• Ability to choose and implement financial tools independently

• Experience building a finance function from scratch or early stage
• Background working with fast-growing digital or online businesses
• Experience managing relationships with banks, payment processors, or financial services providers

• Familiarity with multi-entity consolidation and inter-company transactions

   

Responsibilities

Invoicing and accounts

• Own the full invoicing process across all entities: issuing, tracking, reconciling, and following up
• Ensure every invoice is accurate, on time, and properly recorded
• Manage accounts payable and receivable with zero tolerance for errors or missed deadlines

Payments and cash management

• Execute and oversee all outgoing payments across entities and currencies
• Manage payment schedules and ensure cash is always where it needs to be
• Identify and resolve payment issues fast, before they become bigger problems

Credit cards and financial services

• Own all company credit cards: issuance, limits, reconciliation, and policy
• Manage relationships with credit card providers and financial services vendors
• Evaluate and optimise which financial services and tools we use, always looking for better terms, lower fees, and more efficient solutions

P&L ownership

• Own the P&L across all entities: maintain it, update it, and make sure leadership always has an accurate picture
• Track revenue, costs, and margins at a level of detail that enables real decision-making
• Flag anomalies, unexpected variances, and cost creep before they become problems

Expense optimization

• Audit existing expenses regularly and identify where we are overpaying or underutilising
• Build and enforce an expense policy that balances operational needs with financial discipline
• Find ways to reduce costs without slowing the business down

Reporting and financial clarity

• Produce clear, accurate financial reports that give leadership what they need to make fast decisions
• Maintain financial documentation across all entities in a structured, auditable way
• Liaise with external accountants and tax advisors as needed, owning the relationship and the inputs they receive

Systems and processes

• Choose, implement, and maintain the financial tools and software the operation runs on
• Build SOPs for every recurring financial process so the function can eventually scale to a team

• Ensure financial operations are structured, documented, and resilient
