QA Automation Lead (Warsaw)
Who we are:
Adaptiq is a technology hub specializing in building, scaling, and supporting R&D teams for high-end, fast-growing product companies in a wide range of industries.
About the Product:
We support a multi-brand social gaming platform that delivers real-time entertainment across web and mobile channels. The system includes a RESTful API and WebSocket services for live game sessions, a complex back-end supporting concurrent users and high transaction volumes, and a dynamic front-end with frequent UI enhancements. Releases occur on a weekly or bi-weekly cadence, introducing new features, bug fixes, and integrations without downtime. Ensuring end-to-end quality and reliability is critical: production issues directly affect customer engagement and revenue. The platform’s scale and continuous delivery model create demanding technical and coordination challenges, making precise test automation essential.
About the Role:
As QA Automation Lead, you will establish and grow the automation function from the ground up. You will take full ownership of automation strategy, framework design, pipeline integration, and team hiring. In the first months, you will be hands-on—writing and reviewing test code, configuring CI/CD, and guiding defect triage—while building processes and standards that ensure high test coverage and fast feedback on every pull request. You will collaborate closely with engineers and product managers, translate requirements into test plans, and coach junior QA engineers. Your work will directly impact release quality, deployment velocity, and team efficiency in a fast-paced environment where production errors have significant cost.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks for UI, API, and end-to-end scenarios.
- Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins) to enforce quality gates on pull requests.
- Lead a small team of QA engineers through hands-on guidance, code reviews, and daily direction.
- Define and enforce squad-level testing standards, processes, and documentation.
- Own test coverage for assigned product areas, identifying gaps and preventing regressions before production.
- Collaborate with developers and product managers to analyze requirements and develop comprehensive test plans.
- Manage defect triage and analyze test failures, coordinating fixes and verifying resolutions.
- Continuously optimize test reliability, execution speed, and scope; surface quality risks to engineering leads.
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted testing tools and modern technologies to accelerate framework development.
- Participate in recruiting and onboarding of additional automation engineers as the team scales.
Required Competence and Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on QA automation experience owning a test automation codebase.
- Proficient with Playwright and TypeScript in a production automation framework; experience with Cypress or Selenium is acceptable.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills for developing and maintaining test scripts.
- Demonstrated experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Solid API testing background using tools like Postman or Supertest; experience with RESTful API and WebSocket testing.
- Deep understanding of Git workflows and agile software delivery practices.
- Proven leadership in mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and managing day-to-day QA operations.
- Familiarity with AI-driven testing tools and ability to evaluate their application in automation workflows.
- Excellent communication skills for articulating quality concerns to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in gaming or entertainment software testing, especially in social or casino-style products.
