Lead Embedded Developer (offline)

Client:
Our Client develops advanced medical technologies that were simpler, easier and safer to use. This led to the invention of a blood mixer and scale for blood banking organizations. The devices are now used in blood banks in nine countries. Our Client is entering the hospital environment, with software solutions designed to reduce human data entry errors and duplicate processes.
Project:
The “Product” is designed for use in blood centers and similar settings to assist with blood donations. It monitors the flow of blood from the donor while automatically agitating the bag; facilitating the mixing of blood and anticoagulant. When the draw has completed the blood flow is automatically clamped off and an alert is sounded. If there is a problem with the draw, the “Product” automatically detects the issue and sounds an alarm.
Requirements
- BS in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Science Engineering or related technical degree
- 5+ years of experience with embedded C programming
- 5+ years of prior experience using embedded processors such as Atmel AVR, Microchip PIC, ARM core or similar processors
- Experience with developing “bring-up” code for new circuit boards, and executing “board bring-up”
- Experience in use of advanced development/debugging tools; e.g. C/C++ compilers, ICE, JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Experience with multi-tasking or multi-threading with and without RTOS implementations
- Evidence of strong firmware architecture design thinking and ability to clearly document designs
- Experience with a full product life cycle from concept to market release
- Experience using CCS and XC 8/16/32 compilers
- Track record of innovative and creative thinking used to create effective solutions for both engineering and customer problems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Contribute to testing, documenting, troubleshooting and other related activities
- Excellent English communication (verbal and written) and ability to work both in teams and independently
Preferred:
- Experience with C++ and Object-Oriented Programming
- Knowledge of assembly language
- Prior experience with Design for Manufacturability and Design for Testability.
- Experience with unit test frameworks such as CPPUNIT
- Experience using UML modeling techniques and tools
- Direct experience designing and implementing digital and analog circuitry
- Experience with Bluetooth Dongle
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of firmware design and development for innovative products and features using embedded microprocessors
- Participates in sustaining activities for existing products including diagnosis and resolution of defects
- Will interact with engineering, marketing, management, and project leads to assure that product development priorities are completed to schedule and budget while ensuring quality and product performance requirements are met
- Product development activities include design and development, design reviews, documentation, incorporation of lessons learned from existing products, product verification, coordination with quality assurance, and field validation
- Responsible for keeping excellent, organized project records and documentation
- Responsible for writing high-quality, well-documented, and robust code
- Must be self-directed and be able to work independently
