About the Role

We are hiring an advanced Shopify developer to own the technical performance and optimization of our high traffic eCommerce storefront. This is not a build from scratch role—you will be diving into an existing, revenue generating Shopify store to diagnose issues, fix broken logic, optimize page speed, and improve conversion performance.

You must have deep expertise in Shopify Liquid, theme architecture, and performance optimization. Experience with Shopify Hydrogen/Oxygen (headless) is strongly preferred. You will work directly with leadership and cross functional teams to execute high impact improvements quickly.

Responsibilities

• Audit and optimize existing Shopify theme code (Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Diagnose and fix broken logic, checkout issues, and theme conflicts
• Improve site speed and Core Web Vitals (image optimization, lazy loading, code minification, render blocking reduction)
• Refactor inefficient Liquid templates and reduce theme bloat
• Implement and troubleshoot third party app integrations and custom API connections
• Ensure mobile responsiveness and cross browser compatibility
• Collaborate with marketing and operations on landing pages, A/B tests, and campaign execution
• Document technical changes and maintain version control best practices

Required Skills

• 4+ years of hands on Shopify development experience
• Expert level proficiency in Shopify Liquid templating
• Strong command of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (vanilla and frameworks)
• Proven track record optimizing Shopify store performance and page speed
• Experience debugging and fixing complex theme logic issues
• Deep understanding of Shopify APIs, webhooks, and third party integrations
• Familiarity with Git/version control and deployment workflows
• Ability to work autonomously and communicate clearly with non technical stakeholders

Strongly Preferred

• Experience with Shopify Hydrogen/Oxygen (headless commerce)
• Shopify Plus experience
• Knowledge of React, Next.js, or modern frontend frameworks
• SEO and analytics experience (GA4, conversion tracking, structured data)
• Experience scaling and maintaining high volume eCommerce stores ($10M+ ARR)
• Background in CRO (conversion rate optimization) and eCommerce UX

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Shopify development experience (advanced level)
• Portfolio or live examples of Shopify stores you have optimized or maintained
• Demonstrated ability to improve site speed, fix bugs, and increase conversion rates
