Type: Project Contract (Redesign MVP → V1)

Location: Remote

We’re hiring a Senior Product / UI/UX Designer to lead the full redesign of our mobile-first AI chat product. This is a project-based contract: once the redesign is completed and delivered, we wrap the engagement.

You will take an existing MVP and transform it into a clean, modern, scalable product with a fully documented design system, component library, and production-ready screens. You’ll work closely with Product and Tech Leads, shipping fast and iterating quickly.

Responsibilities

1. Full Product Redesign (MVP → V1)

1. Audit the current MVP and propose a polished, mobile-first UI direction.
2. Rebuild UX architecture: navigation, page hierarchy, flows, naming.
3. Deliver production-ready design files for mobile + web (adaptive & responsive).

2. Build the Product Design System

1. Create color tokens, gradients, elevation, shadows, and visual scales.
2. Define typography hierarchy, spacing, and rhythm.
3. Establish grids, spacing rules, and layout standards (mobile first).
4. Build a reusable component library:
5. Buttons, inputs, toggles
6. Headers, footers, modals
7. Chat UI components
8. Message bubbles, status indicators, icons
9. Shared form components

3. Design All Component States (Critical)

1. Hover/pressed / focus / disabled states.
2. Loading, skeleton, and empty states.
3. Error handling, offline screens, and reconnection flows.
4. Chat message states: sending → pending → sent → read → edited.
5. Payment & monetization flows: subscriptions, tokens, paywalls, onboarding.

4. Deliver Clean, Engineer-Ready Figma Files

1. Proper file structure, naming conventions, and documentation.
2. Auto-layout, constraints, responsive frames.
3. Smooth handoff to engineering with clear behavior specs.
4. Close collaboration with Tech Lead & frontend team throughout.

Requirements

Must-Have

1. 4+ years of experience in Product/UI/UX design (consumer, apps, SaaS).
2. Strong portfolio with real shipped mobile products (mobile-first is essential).
3. Proven experience building design systems from scratch.
4. Expert-level proficiency in Figma (components, auto-layout, variables, prototypes).
5. Experience designing adaptive layouts for mobile + desktop.
6. Solid understanding of UX patterns for chat/messaging interfaces.
7. Ability to produce clean, organized, highly structured design files.
8. Comfortable working fast, iterating often, and communicating clearly.
