Location: Ispra (Varese), Italy — On-site 2–3 days per week
Contract Type: 1-year contract with possible extension

About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced System Administrator with a DevOps profile to support infrastructure operations, automation, and CI/CD processes within a highly regulated enterprise environment. This role requires deep hands-on expertise in system administration, DevOps tooling, backup management, and user support.

To qualify, candidates must meet one of the following:

• Master’s Degree + minimum 11 years of experience, or
• Bachelor’s Degree + minimum 15 years of experience

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain GitLab CI/CD, including server administration and pipeline setup
• Handle containerization workflows using Docker
• Implement automation and configuration management using Ansible
• Manage and operate Swarm clusters and support DevOps processes
• Administer Linux (Ubuntu LTS) environments
• Maintain and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including:
  • Master–slave replication
  • Backup & restore using Barman
  • Ensuring database reliability and disaster recovery readiness
• Design and enforce backup and restore policies across systems
• Provide day-to-day end-user technical support (workstations, tools, access issues)
• Troubleshoot and maintain network configurations
• Work on-site 2–3 days per week, collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders
   

Required Skills & Experience

Education (Strict Requirement – one must apply):

• Master’s degree + 11+ years of professional experience
  OR
• Bachelor’s degree + 15+ years of professional experience
   

Technical Competencies:

• Strong experience with GitLab CI/CD server configuration
• Solid hands-on experience with Docker and containerized environments
• Expertise in Ansible for automation
• Experience with Swarm clusters and DevOps workflows
• Deep knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu LTS) administration
• PostgreSQL expertise, including:
  • Master–slave replication
  • Barman backup tools
• Strong understanding of backup/restore strategies
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals
• Experience providing end-user technical support
