AI Engineering Tech Lead — Generative Comics Platform

Role
Lead cross-functional team for end-to-end AI content production — own the AI backend, guide architecture, and align roadmaps across platform teams.

What you’ll do

• Architect and lead workflows for txt2img/img2img/inpainting and LoRA training (ComfyUI), with vector search for style/pose continuity.
• Design reliable async systems: SQS fan-out/in, webhook ingestion, idempotent replays, and eventual consistency to the core DB.
  Define and enforce contracts (OpenAPI + JSON Schema) for REST and queue payloads; drive contract/integration testing.
• Mentor engineers: code reviews, design docs, hiring loop, and technical roadmap; partner with full-stack team on API ergonomics and DX.
• Set SLOs (latency, success rate), instrument metrics/logs/traces, and tune concurrency/autoscaling based on backlog/GPU capacity.
• Own environment-scoped config and secure operations: API keys/JWTs, CORS, secrets, CloudWatch observability, CI/CD and Docker images.
  
   

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years building AI/ML or distributed backends; 2+ years technical leadership.
• Strong Python; FastAPI; async/concurrency; Postgres + SQLAlchemy + Alembic.
• Deep AWS experience (SQS, S3, CloudWatch) and event-driven patterns.
• Proven delivery of GPU/ML pipelines in production (orchestrating external runtimes, webhook lifecycles, cost/perf trade-offs).
• Obsessed with reliability: idempotency, backoff, retries, schema evolution, and migration safety.
  
   

Nice to have

• Ability to work in a dynamic environment, Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities
• Hands-on with ComfyUI graphs, RunPod/kohya LoRA, Qdrant, embeddings/LLMs for plot/character analysis.
• Experience defining team processes (release gates, runbooks, feature flags) and shaping a multi-service roadmap.
