Technical Lead

THE ROLE

We’re hiring a Technical Lead to drive the development of a new core banking platform for a fintech startup operating as an Authorised Payment Institution in the UK. You will lead architecture and execution in a fullstack JavaScript environment, balancing delivery speed with long-term quality.

YOU WILL

• Define and evolve system architecture for a microservice-based platform
• Lead a cross-functional engineering team and manage technical delivery
• Stay hands-on: contribute production-quality code and unblock others
• Maintain high standards of performance, security, and maintainability
• Represent technical priorities in discussions with stakeholders

• Continuously improve tools, processes, and team practices

   

ABOUT YOU

• 8+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on 
  JS/TypeScript/Node.js 
• 4+ years of experience leading development teams 
• Advanced knowledge of Node.js backend development 
• Expert-level React and Next.js experience 
• Strong understanding of TypeScript and modern JavaScript features
• Experience with PostgreSQL and database optimization 
• Proficiency with GCP or equivalent cloud platforms 
• Understanding of microservices architecture and containerization
• Proven track record of leading teams, making architectural decisions, and delivering complex projects  
• Based in the UK or Europe (CET ±2)
   

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with real-time data processing and WebSocket implementations 
• Knowledge of payment processing systems and financial regulations
• Contributions to open-source projects 
• Experience with event-driven architectures 
• Background in agile methodologies and team leadership
