Cloud Architect

Visible Magic is a software outsourcing company focused on the U.S. and market specializing in: AI solutions, AR + Spatial computing, and Full Stack development.

We’re looking for an experienced Cloud Architect (Freelance Consultant) to lead the solution architecture, cloud infrastructure design, and DevSecOps foundations of this transformation during the Discovery and MVP phases.

Responsibilities:

• Lead architecture definition for the new SaaS platform on AWS, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance (GDPR, SOC 2).
• Collaborate with stakeholders during Phase 0 to define infrastructure, security model, data architecture, and multi-tenancy approach.
• Design and document cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (AWS CDK or Terraform).
• Define and implement DevOps and CI/CD strategy, including GitHub Actions pipelines and automated testing integration.
• Lead integration design for IAM (OAuth/SSO, MFA), secure file storage, and audit logging.
• Guide application team on cost-effective and compliant AWS service usage (e.g., S3, ECS/Fargate, RDS, Secrets Manager, etc.).
• Support security posture via encryption-in-use strategies, Evervault integration, and external penetration testing readiness.
• Collaborate with QA on performance, availability, and reliability objectives (e.g., 99.9% uptime, p95 < 2s page load).

Skills and requirements:

• 5+ years of experience designing AWS cloud architecture for enterprise or SaaS applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS CDK or Terraform, multi-account setups, and security best practices.
• Proficiency with Node.js/TypeScript-based platforms, containerised environments (Docker, ECS/Fargate), and serverless patterns.
• Deep understanding of IAM, multi-tenant isolation strategies, and data protection standards (encryption in transit/at rest/in use).
• Experience with CI/CD, GitHub Actions, and Infrastructure Observability tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, etc.).
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks like GDPR, SOC 2, and secure-by-design principles.
• Strong documentation and communication skills; ability to align tech decisions with business goals. 
• Fluent spoken and written English (B2+).
  
  
  Nice to Have
• Experience integrating Evervault or similar encryption-in-use platforms.
• Exposure to Next.js (App Router) architectures.
• Prior work in legal-tech, document-heavy or partner portal platforms.
• Familiarity with SSO integrations and federated identity (ADFS, Azure AD, etc.).
• Familiar with AWS Well-Architected framework
• AWS Certificate will be a big plus
