UI/UX Designer (Startup Co-Living Platform)

Company Overview:

We’re a friendly co-living platform dedicated to making shared housing easy and enjoyable. Our app helps roommates coordinate chores, split expenses, and establish clear house rules so they can build happier, less stressful homes. As a small, fast-moving startup, we value collaboration, curiosity, and a passion for solving real-world problems. If you enjoy working on early-stage ventures and want to learn while making a tangible impact, this role is for you.

Role Overview:

We’re seeking a part-time UI/UX Designer (10–15 hrs/week) to turn our core feature wireframes into polished, user-friendly mockups and a clickable prototype. You’ll develop a simple yet scalable style guide (colors, typography, buttons, and icons) and design reusable components that ensure consistency across the product. Working closely with the founder, you’ll iterate on designs based on pilot user feedback, refine user flows, and prepare assets and documentation for our no‐code build (Bubble). This position offers hands-on experience in end-to-end product design, rapid iteration, and direct collaboration with a small, passionate team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate existing wireframes into high-fidelity, clickable mockups.
  • Establish and document a cohesive style guide (brand colors, typography, button and form styles, iconography).
  • Design reusable components (cards, buttons, inputs, simple animations) that can be implemented directly by developers.
  • Build an interactive prototype demonstrating core user flows (onboarding → rule creation → chore completion → expense tracking).
  • Iterate designs based on pilot feedback, improving clarity, usability, and visual appeal.
  • Prepare a developer handoff package that includes exported assets (SVG/PNG icons, illustrations) and annotated design specifications.

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 year of experience in UI/UX design, visual design, or a related role (portfolio or examples of previous work required).
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Strong visual sensibility and attention to detail—comfortable defining and applying brand colors, typography, and spacing.
  • Ability to create clear, intuitive interfaces and simple prototypes without overengineering.
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to respond to feedback quickly (ideally within 24–48 hours).
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage your time effectively in a part-time, remote-friendly startup environment.
  • Bonus: Interest in no-code development (Bubble) or previous experience working on early-stage products.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible, part-time hours (10–15 hrs/week) with the ability to work remotely.
  • A chance to own the entire design vision for our MVP and see your work live within weeks.
  • Direct mentorship from the founder and regular check-ins to support your growth.
  • Opportunity to build your portfolio with real product screens and a clickable prototype.
  • Potential to expand into a more senior role or increased hours as we secure funding and grow.
