Director of Technology – CTO/GM (offline)

We are looking for a Director of Technology – CTO/GM to help the Engineering team in Kyiv build and scale the first of its kind cross-platform video analytics service. In this role, you will lead the team developing some most critical technical systems and advising executives on road map and technical opportunities. You will work with the brightest engineers in Kyiv and the US, building a product that critically needed by many of the world’s top Media companies. We are a very hands-on technical culture, so you will have plenty of opportunity to roll up your sleeves and contribute to the engineering efforts of your team.

Responsibilities:
• Increases organizational effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, and counseling managers and employees
• Communicates corporate values, strategies, and objectives to the team
• Develops strategic plans by studying technological and financial opportunities, presents assumptions and recommends objectives
• Works closely with the engineering, product management and other stakeholders to develop the scope and requirements of projects that the team will engage in
• Drives a predictable and transparent sprint process to accomplish team goals
• Ensures product delivers desired business value by monitoring, operating, and improving the systems the team is responsible for
• Leads the team technically and culturally, creating an environment that is highly collaborative and conducive to delivering quality results
• Schedules and attends regular team meetings to discuss about business updates, issues and recommendations
• Travel to the US at least three times a year

Skills
• At least 15 years’ experience as a successful software engineer, of which at least 7 years as a team lead or manager
• Skilled with one or more of Python, Scala, ElasticSearch, Apache Spark, or other big data technologies and development tools.
• Demonstrated success in growing, managing, mentoring, and leading a cross-functional engineering team
• Experience at building and driving an agile software development process
• Experience building and running applications with Amazon Web Services is a plus
• Good proficiency in English
• Experience working with international teams
